SERB ORTHODOX NUNS AND MONKS STONED BY ALBANIAN MOB IN KOSOVO AND METOHIJA

Pec, May 7, 2002

In the early morning hours today, just after the midnight, unidentified muslim- Kosovo Albanians attacked by rocks a car with the nuns from the Patriarchate of Pec Monastery while they were entering the territory of Kosovo and Metohija from Rozaje (at Kulina Pass).

The nuns in their kombi-van and the monks from Decani Monastery in their car were returning to Kosovo from the church celebration at Djurdjevi Stupovi, near Novi Pazar.

Immediately after they passed the administrative boundary of the Province and were heading to the location where they were supposed to meet with the Italian KFOR vehicles which would escort them to their monasteries, they were stopped by a group of Kosovo Albanian muslims which were unloading things from a large truck.

The mob began throwing rocks at the cars in which were monks and nuns. The vehicle of the Patriarchate of Pec ( who is an elderly man in his 90's) luckily suffered only minor damage and the life of the passengers was not endangered because both vehicles sped off to the point where Italian transporters were waiting for them. Nevertheless the nuns suffered a shock and fear.

After the stoning of the Monastery of Pec Patriarchate on the Orthodox Good Friday (May 3rd) this is another incident in which the nuns of this monastery were targeted.

Here is another example of the lack of religious freedom in Kosovo. Note that the troops who guard these members of Clergy, are Italians.

They do they best that they can. Kfor often takes them away from guarding the Nuns and Monks to do searches of Albanian homes in search for weapons.

I read in an Orthodox publication that one Italian soldier went home after his tour and volunteered to come back to help some elderly Nuns with the maintance of the convent. Now, that is nice to hear!!!

Thanks be to God for this! A friend of our family and Serbian priest is in Serbia now. Please pray for Fr. Dane's safe return.

Let me see now... oh, yeah... this is the PC mantra:

The Mohammedans, being of the one true Religion of (infidels in)Piece(s), were simply expressing justified rage over the Israeli occupation of the West Bank. (/gagging sarcasm)

It's the same thing the murderous savages of iSLAM are doing in the Phillipeens, India and everywhere else they infect the land.

Human civilization had better wake up soon and get as serious about its survival as the seventh-century savages are about our annihilation!

It was a diplomatic and military mistake of major proportions.
Among other things it emboldened bin Laden and his minions.
History will clearly show that intervention as enabling the 911 Mass Murder and subsequent events.

"Meaning well" and good intentions are meaningful only when and if a gross error and unintended consequences are recognized and corrected.
It did, however, get the First Rapist's exploits out of the newspapers... for a while.

I figured it had something to do with America being hoodwinked into 8 years of Clinton.

A young Roman Catholic soldier has begun attending Liturgy at our parish. He was stationed in Bosnia and Kosovo. He was disgusted at the attempts of the Moslems to kill the few remaining aged Serbs and their attempts to desecrate the Orthodox churches that remained. At some point he came to the realization that it was really his churches they were attacking.

He also helped organize the shipping of private relief packages from the US to help the Serbs, particularly a group of schoolchildren, since all of the international aid agencies wouldn't help the Serbs.

Truly nauseating. Unfortunately, many people still don't get it.

I was proud to co-manage a huge shipment from many Orthodox churches in this area to Serbia shortly after the bombing.
I think shipping to the east coast ended up costing about $600. It got onto the internet and one church in Chicago sent me enough boxes of stuff to fill our entryway, stacked to the ceiling.
My daughter and I sat and made shoeboxes for the tent cities. Each shoebox had a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, protein bar, toy, etc. and a small paper icon. I think between ours and the ones we got from other churches, about 300 shoeboxes went to Serbia from here.
I remember the trips to bring stuff collected at the local ROCOR church filled a huge van (we keep for hauling stuff - no seats) 4 times. It was incredible to see the stuff they collected - new coats, hats, mittens by the box.
I ran into a shoe salesman who was sympathetic and ended up donating a whole bunch of boots for children on sale.
We sent our stuff to the church in Wakefield, Ma. They shipped it in containers to Serbia.

It was the best of times, to see that stuff heading out for Serbia. Thanks for letting me reminisce.
