Jews are to the Ivies what Asians are to Berkeley: The hardworking, focused kids who are discriminated AGAINST because of their efforts.

I interview for an Ivy, and have never not once met a Jewish kid who wasn't *over* prepared. Ditto immigrants from the Ukraine and the Dominican Republic (who happen to be black-skinned).

OTOH the American blacks I've met would've been HARMED by going to an Ivy, as there would have been no possibility of them keeping up with the work.

It would be nice to have a top institution say the following: "We have a limited number of places. Bright and talented people bring benefits to society that are enormous. Our goal is to admit the finest, brightest students we can, regardless of race or sex. We plan to run a tough program that will challenge them to the utmost. We want our graduates to be known as the best. Other institutions can cater to the less capable, run junk "studies" courses, etc. We will have a core curriculum that assures that every graduate is a civilized person." In short order that institution would be attacked on all sides, but if it survived, it would be a blessing to the country.

... But evidently not at San Francisco, where the campus authorities just allowed a mob of Arab students to attack a demonstration by Jewish students.
