It's the glee he takes in killing. Hunting is killing for fun, and killing for fun is sick. It's not like he's an Appalachian backwoodsman hunting for sustenance. He promulgates killing for the pure joy of it. (And I realize he's exaggerating his attitude to sell his books.) ...also, his music irritates me...and I am an old heavy metal head.

I have read his writings in which he takes glee in providing food for his family, in bonding with loved ones in the process, and in respectfully honoring the animals that provide the bounty.

I never heard him express glee over the kill itself. His glee is comparable to the pleasure a gardener gets from harvesting a bountous crop. You might reconsider your hatred unless you have evidence to share.

Perhaps you simply object to him enjoying a pursuit that you do not enjoy. Stop trying to eliminate the pleasure from the lives of others. Do you wish that butchers enjoyed their jobs less?

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, and your posts on other threads are pretty reasonable, so I figured you had a valid outlook, however rudely stated and in difference with my own. Hunting is fun, to an extent, but I personally view it as an essential life-skill. Yes, I can bop down to McDs and grab a bite, but I also want to be able to provide for myself and my family when the stores are closed, so to speak. I also fish and can harvest native plants, skills which are identical in their application.

Man is the ultimate predator in a biospere rife with predators. We are products of nature, and nature is, in the words of the poet, "red in tooth and claw". I've never had a problem with that. I've hunted since I was a teenager, and once in a while the game tried hunting me back. That's when hunting became less enjoyable (!), but I still had no complaints.

Ted tends to hit people over the head with his point of view, and his enthusiasm is undoubtedly overbearing and intimidating to some, but I personally view his extrovertedness as a positive thing. We Americans have forgotten who we are, and are too prone to listening to the negative mewlings of the Marxists in our government and in the media. Ted is an uplifing reminder of what it means to be free, and kicks asses with a smile; a welcome counter to the mewlings of the left.

No, it isn't. The fun is in the hunt itself, not the kill. Your assertion is like saying that orgasm is the joy and purpose of sex, but that's not true. And yet, without the orgasm, no act of sex can be said to have achieved its aim.

Nietzsche said it better: "Not every end is the goal. The end of a melody is not its goal; and yet: if a melody has not reached its end, it has not reached its goal. A parable."

Why? It's not like we're talking about killing people. Killing people for fun is wrong, but only because it's people. It appears that either you are anthropomorphizing the game animals, or you aren't clear on why killing people is wrong.

That's exactly what he's doing. He's telling people that it's better for humans to get involved with the food process instead of hiring hitmen. It's better for the animals because they are allowed to live a natural life instead of being in pens where they can't even turn around.

That's your opinion. I consider the thrill of the hunt a primal God-given adrenaline rush. Also totally ethical. Hunters only take surplus game that could not survive anyway, and every animal that dies a quick relatively painless death from a hunter's bullet or arrow is one less animal that will die a slow painful death from starvation, thirst or disease. I take it you are not a hunter, but I would recommend you take a hunter education course, even if you never plan on hunting. At least it will give you a some understanding of what hunting is really all about, and why having respect and love for the animals we hunt is not a contridiction.
