NEW YORK -- Sears Canada Inc. said Monday it agreed to become the exclusive Canadian retailer for the Martha Stewart Everyday brand label next year under a merchandising agreement with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc.

Terms were not disclosed.

The move comes after Canadian retailer Hudson's Bay Co. said it will drop the product line from its Zellers stores next year.

Through the new distribution agreement, Sears Canada will have exclusive rights in Canada to sell the label's merchandise in the bed and bath, housewares, gardening, textiles and seasonal product categories.

The agreement will take effect in summer 2003.

While Martha has built herself a massive empire, from what I understand, K-Mart sales account for nearly 90% of her companies profits. So if K-Mart goes down, shes going to go down until another retailer can ramp up delivery of her goods and sell them at the pace that K-Mart does.

I have to say, if I was going to change one of those two names Martha would have been the one to go.

Hi Riley ... Funny you should "ring." I paddled past Martha's house on Porpoise Pt, Kennebunkport Saturday morning in a sea kayak. She wasn't home, so I didn't get invited in ... but I think exporting my heroine is "a good thing." Canada will LOVE her! Tu c'est! LOL &;-)

Right now, Martha Stewart is the sexiest woman on Earth. Her being a multimillionaire has nothing to do with it (nudge, nudge. wink, wink.).

C'mon, she does EVERYTHING around the house and I do mean EVERYTHING!

Alas, she seemed to be one of those liberal elites. What she does (everything) seems to match better with the habits of conservative, hardworking Americans. I wonder if she's not too old to change her politics.

"Nobody likes her. Some of us think she's sexy -- which is probably sad in its own way, but very different from liking her."

Speak for yourself HB ... since I am the orginal Martha Stewart ... and she is just a newbie wannabe ... I can like someone because she is a lot like me ... but if I hated all liberals ... that would mean 100% of my colleagues. Talk about throwing out the baby ... LOL &;-)
