Err...the "bugs" that eat roads occur naturally in soil. Live in backroad country. You can watch their work. Aluminum oxidizes naturally, steel rusts, copper corrodes. Biocatalysts to break down fuel and plastic have been around for twenty years. The most common uses are in biodegradable garbage bags and to clean up oil spills.
What, exactly, do we supposendly intend to do with these slow-acting super biocatalysts that we couldn't do more quickly and efficiently with carpet bombing?

I saw a documentary on WWII sabotage. The military asked Standard Oil for the perfect substance to put in German motor vehicles. It would destroy the engine about 50 miles from home (making repair much more difficult). After studying over 700 substances, they came up with
cashew-nut oil. It was dispensed to saboteurs in neat little boxes--sets of 5 "doses". Each was in a condom, as I recall. Cashew-nut oil evidently has a consistency roughly like peanut butter. The saboteurs were instructed to 'shloop' one condom-full into the crank-case of a German vehicle.
Stuff like ground glass worked much too quickly, but CNO was perfect.
Since it looked like peanut-butter, I suppose some "JIF" would work almost as well...
