AMSTERDAM: Dozens of threatening letters containing an unidentified white powder were sent to some 80 Dutch Hindu groups this week, accusing them of supporting murdered politician Pim Fortuyn, one of the groups said on Thursday.
But the organisations had not taken any stand in support of anti-immigration campaigner Fortuyn, who was shot dead on Monday just as his new party was surging in opinion polls, said a representative of the Hindu group SHPN.
The letters, signed "Dutch al-Qaeda", were received on Monday and Tuesday. They have been reported to the police.
Fortuyn's party had been expected to win some 17 percent of the vote in a general election next Wednesday.
His campaign had created a groundswell of support from those who admired his outspoken stance as well as bitter opposition from established politicians, many foreigners and the left wing.

The letters, signed "Dutch al-Qaeda"...Ok, since I was wrong when I assumed the pipebomber was a foreigner, and it turned out to be domestic in origin, I'll have to say that THIS is white liberals.. I mean, who else would sign it 'Dutch al-qaeda'??? ;0)

Why would the Hindu people vote for him when he was a racist/nazi/hitler? Could it be the press lied about this?

Actually, since we're on the subject.. the article mentions 80 Hindu groups.. are there really that many Hindus in Holland, or are these all just really tiny groups?

Yes, it must be. RTL news also talked about this number. But hey, there are now 1024 Turkish organizations and 725 Moroccan organization in the Netherlands now.

Why would the Hindu people vote for him when he was a racist/nazi/hitler? Could it be the press lied about this? The guy replacing him as candidate is black, so, yes, I would say the press has lied to us.

Joao Varela, number 2 of the List Pim Fortuyn. When he heard the news about the murder, he bursted out in tears. Later he commented: "Pim Fortuyn was like a father to me".

The real 'skinheads'/neo-nazis wouldn't vote List Pim Fortuyn. List Pim Fortuyn incluedes immigrants/ethnic people, so they will vote the Green Right. Green Right is the reincarnation of CP'86, anti-everything party.

When my husband and I lived in Amsterdam from 94-96, I had to make many trips to the Alien Police station to show documents and get permission to live there, even though my husband was sent over to work there by a major oil company.
I was amazed at the sea of dark faces and often felt like I was in a third world country at that place. There were many Arabs and Turks moving to Holland. I must've had to go to the Alien Police at least 5 times, and even though it was always very crowded with a long wait, I was often the only white person in there (besides the workers). It sounds like now problems are brewing in Holland as a result, which I figured would eventually happen. I wonder if the Arab pick-pockets are still out in full force in the city center.

Varela is from the Cape Verde islands. Joao is Portuguese for "John." I don't know how Varela happened to end up in Holland.
