Egan and Braudie (sp) are throwing tantrums over having their three hour spot cut back to one hour. I wouldn't be surprised to see them canned completely if they keep this up. Good riddance to their liberal rubbish and their audience made up of predominantly bored housewives/princesses, judging by the callers. They should spend their new free time in diction lessons. They certainly don't sound like they belong in a major radio market.
I pleased that there is another alternative in daytime talk. Listening to the same ole, same ole day after day is limiting.
That's the truth. And I did catch their whiney act this afternoon only because my anticipation to catch the O'Reilly show was high. The station may have cut their 3-hour shift to an hour but it sure seemed like three hours to me! I cannot imagine a radio station paying two hosts for only an hour a day. I expect that the O'Reilly Show will eventually go to three hours and then the show will be eliminated altogether.
Liberal talk show hosts have had a tough time even making it in Boston. Tom Leykis, Ted O'Brien, Marjorie Clapprood, the list of failed liberal talk show hosts is extensive.
I tune in, now and again; however , I don't need to hear his continual whoning about the E-mail he gets about hw he should stop his endless Bush bashing, nor the then ensuing Bush bashing tirade.
O'Rielly has bumped Bob Grant ( shocking ! ) , in the N.Y. area and is up against Hannity ; who follows Rush, here. O'Rielly is NO match for Sean. After listening to BoR , for awhile ( b-o-r-i-n-g ! ) , I went back to listening to Sean. I won't tune in again. O'Rielly is no Bob Grant, and I doubt that Bob's faithful listeners are going to stick with Bill. I started listening to Bob Grant in the late 1960's . He changed, after the debacle, of the 90's, and I went to Hannity. Many others did too. Grant's diehard listeners, are NOT going to listen to Bill. My guess is that they'll move over to Sean.
Bottom line ? IMHO, O'Rielly isn't going to make it in the tri state area.
I had the displeasure of hearing approximately 10 minutes of this idiot program while driving to prayer meeting this evening, and another 10 minutes while driving back home.
It was worse than I anticipated. Bill giving marriage advise to E.D. and the rest of us was almost as lame as if I tried to replace Dr. Ruth.
O'Reilly is a Populist, not a Republican. I cannot watch his show anymore either. Not worth it. I disagree with him quite a bit, and don't always want to hear who he has on.
It's NOT DONE ALL THE TIME! Where did you hear that? From O'Reilly? Do you really believe him???
Isn't that Jim(?) Braude - the Provincetown leather shop guy? Better known as a Liberal Puke?
Hey, it's tough to stay in town after you've hit your wife with a fire-place log.
This was actually a quote from Imus who's been in the radio business many years.
Wow, she aired all of this on the first day? That's terrible about the husband and the babysitter, btw.
Bob Grant was an institution, for more than 4 decades, in N.Y.C. and its environs. He's the " father of Conservative talk radio " ! He didn't Bush bash, and was opposite Sean Hannity ... so there ALWAYS has been a competition with / an alternative to Sean. Ergo, what you said, was not only incorrect, but silly.
When Bob ran into some problems, got booted from WABC and went to WOR , his fans followed. He lost his " edge " / what made him Bob Grant , and many of his decades old fans ( me included ) went over to listen to Hannity. Those who stayed, won't stay for O'Rielly. I know this situation, the people involvd, the history behind it all, and the sort of people who listen to both shows. You don't even know that Sean already had a Conservative talk show against him in the N.Y.- tri-state area.
I am ambivilant about O'Rielly. Yes, I usually watch his T.V. show; but find it boring at times, and Bill annoying, arrogant, abrasive, sometimes waaaaaaaaaay off the mark, and thought that his radio show was a pale take of the T.V. show. I went back to listening to Sean.
No, it isnt " too soon " to make an evaluation. New Yorkers don't stick with losers. If the Yankees have a losey year or three, the fans stay away. Same for the Mets, and every other sports team. Many of Grant's listeners are no doubt quite angry about BoR being stuffed down their throat, and won't even give him a chance. If his show doesn't improve ( and because it isn't a " local " show, dealing with LOCAL news , there's little reason to listen now ) and it won't be " better " than Hannity's show ; which is now national. There's little reason for peole to tune in to Bill. Sean, though national, still does do some local , N.Y. / tri-state stuff. O'Rielly has a VERY hard road to hoe here. He isn't going to do better than Sean ; won't even be close to Sean's ratings.
I know this market. You don't ! I would not ever try to expound upon something I know nothing about. Try to emmulate that wise course. : - )
Actually, despite your sarcasm I know the market quite well and have been listening to New York radio for 20 yrs. You should not try to expound upon what someone else may know. Try to emulate that wise course.
BTW your antena isn't picking up my tone . I wasn't being sarcastic at all; not woth anything I posted to yu, dear.:-)
