McAuliffe, while acknowledging he did quite well with his investment in Global Crossing, has denied reports in NewsMax and elsewhere that he turned a $100,000 investment into $18 million.When this story hit months ago, McAuliffe was asked about these figures on one, if not several, nationwide talking head shows. I remember him calling it "smart investing."

What I want to know is when did he get them, and what was he doing at the time? He most likely received the shares as a pre-IPO finders fee for bringing the AFL-CIO to Global Crossing with 300M of investment capital. In other words he didn't pay one penny for the stock.

It was on FOX, Hannity was grilling Terry about producing his trading records on Global Crossing when he made that stupid remark. I don't think he made a television apperance for two months after that.
