Jackson/Cochran to shakedown Microsoft for $1B
O'Reilly Factor | 5/7/2002

Posted on 05/07/2002 6:02:27 PM PDT by Aquinasfan

In an interview with Bill O'Reilly, the author of "Shakedown" said that Johnny Cochran is planning to shakedown Microsoft for $1B. He claims to have heard Cochran say words to that effect at a public speech last year. Cochran has brought together four people who claim to have been discriminated against and is attempting to ratchet this up to a class action suit. The author speculated that Gates is now courting Jackson in hopes that he can reach some kind of out of court settlement with the pair.

Also, videotape was shown of Bill Gates and Jesse Jackson. According to the author, Jesse is using Gates to "get to Silicon Valley." Paraphrasing: "Thus far Silicon Valley has been able to keep Jackson at bay. It looks like Jesse finally has the 'in' he's been looking for.

Anyway, that's to the best of my recollection. And only O'Reilly is reporting on this. Surprise, surprise.

Why can't the RICO act be used against these extortionists?

No, that's for pro-lifers who try to block access to infanticide "clinics."

Gates is a Socialist who would gladly cooperate with Jackson as long as the rest of the industry pays the same extortion.

"Shakedown" is a noun. The verb is "to shake down." "Login" is a noun. "To log in," is the verb.

OK. I'm new to shakedowns...

He is a political moron who barely knows his own interests outside the arena of computers.

This will backfire on Gates. A lot of folks will refuse to buy Microsoft products because of Gates' cowardly cave-in to that shakedown artist, Jesse Jackson.

The fact that not a single corporation has stood up to this slug makes me sick.

Why can't one, just one, CEO stand in front of a mike and say, "I'd rather burn this company to the ground than give a nickel to this slug!"?

Bareback Jackson is wrong on this one. MSFT doesn't discriminate against blacks! MSFT discriminates against anyone over AGE 35. If a black is age 45 and applies to MSFT, he might not even get the courtesy of a rejection letter. Black's OK, "old" isn't at MSFT.

When Jesse tried to go after Silicon Valley awhile back, T.J. Rogers, the CEO at Cypress Semiconductors, told Jesse that he will hire qualified minority engineers (and Mr. Rogers, does just that), if Jesse's group can supply the names. To this date we have not heard from Jesse or his little group on that.

T.J. Rogers, CEO at Cypress Semiconductors, came close enough to saying that to make him a hero in my eyes.

Gates is no elephant. He is a political moron who barely knows his own interests outside the arena of computers.

I genuinely hate to agree, but I must. I've worked with Microsoft stuff for decades, done work on their campus (as a contractor, not an employee). I like the company and its products overall, though they have stepped over the line a few times, such as the situation with Stac Electronics.

But I've watched Bill for years, and he really is clueless about politics. He never had to worry about it until a few years ago - he mostly ignored it. When he did say anything political it was naive liberal gibberish.

He has no political or philosophical convictions. If it is cheaper to buy off Jackson, he'll do it. He'll only fight if he thinks that will add more money to their bottom line. I just hope Jackson gets greedy and forces Bill to fight him.

There is only limited truth in this. What Microsoft discriminates against is people who are not evangelical about the company. It's easier to convince youngsters to take the rah-rah stuff more seriously.

I've seen them hire older employees, but only when they were just as fanatical as Microsoft wanted them to be.

LOL! Well, at least there's one courageous CEO.
