MP stunned at actor's outburst (Fisk Alert)

Scottish Labour MP is taking legal advice after the Hollywood star John Malkovich allegedly said he would like to shoot the politician.

Malkovich is reported to have said that the Glasgow Kelvin MP, George Galloway, was one of two people he would most like to kill.

The source of Malkovich's anger appears to be Mr Galloway's condemnation of Israel's action against Palestinians and his criticism of the west's policies on Iraq.

The actor was addressing students at the Cambridge union debating society when he was asked who he would most like to "fight to the death".

Malkovich, star of movies including Dangerous Liaisons and the Killing Fields, replied: "I'd rather just shoot them."

He named Mr Galloway and The Independent newspaper's Middle East correspondent Robert Fisk.

Union spokesman Julian Blake said: "He had been speaking to the union president before the event and he mentioned then that he read the British press and had been following George Galloway's comments.

"People were fairly surprised when he brought him up though."

'Terrorism climate'

The actor did not explain exactly why he disliked Mr Galloway. He said only that Mr Galloway did not tell the truth.

Mr Galloway said he was astonished that the actor should have such animosity against him.

The MP said he assumed that his outspoken criticism of American policy in the Middle East, Afghanistan and Iraq was behind the outburst.

"In the current climate of terrorism and violence and so on, if it was a joke it is not very funny and if it wasn't a joke, he will be hearing from my lawyers," he added.

"We can have a high noon at the Old Bailey if he likes.

'Very strange man'

"His comments are especially dangerous because in a couple of days' time, I will be in the Palestinian Authority visiting President Arafat and there are a lot of bullets flying around there."

Malkovich is in the UK filming Johnny English with Rowan Atkinson and Natalie Imbruglia.

Mr Galloway asked: "Who can get inside the head of John Malkovich, a very strange man offering a dangerous liaison - indeed, offering a killing field?"

Last month, Mr Galloway renewed his call for people in Scotland to boycott goods from Israel in response to violence in the Middle East.

Big, fat, hairy deal. EVERYBODY feels that way about somebody.

Leave it to the British press to overreact and turn a microscopic incident into a mountainous storyline. Sounds like a script for a soap opera!

I'm goin' fishing. "

Well, if they don't like the answer, don't ask the question! Numbskulls!

I think Malkovitch just became my favorite actor. He's great anyway, no matter his politics, which, just happen to be right up my alley.

Bravo John!

Veronica thanks for posting and pinging this!

The immunity that some politicians think that they have is being shattered. This petty POS playing MP has the freedom to say what he wants. When he endangers people with his comments, he deserves to brough to account for those remarks.

This tells me all that I need to know about this POS:"His comments are especially dangerous because in a couple of days' time, I will be in the Palestinian Authority visiting President Arafat and there are a lot of bullets flying around there."

Only an Arafat clymer licker and supporter of the terrorist Arafat would rush to visit him now! Time for the Scottish voters to flush him out and down to the sewers of Scotland, where he belongs.

John Malkovich is an excellent, edgy actor. Not a pretty-boy and not especially interested in being 'a celebrity'.

His comments at the Cambridge Union were solicited and the blunt response was honest and to the point.
Too damn bad the Scottish MP didn't like it. Perhaps a lot of people don't like Galloway's affection for Palestinian terrorists and his verbal attacks on Israel.

Mr. Galloway is in public life. He chooses to take an unpopular stand and now, a visiting American actor said he'd like to shoot Galloway. The MP is shocked, shocked! He threatens to take Malkovitch to court, proving himself to be the idiot most people assumed he was. Good for John Malkovitch!

What a wuss! Instead of "if it wasn't a joke, I'll kick his ass", we get, "Waaaaa! I'm going to call my wawyer because John Malkovich said mean things about me. Waaaaa!"

He only supports the violence and terrorism of the poor widdle, doe-eyed, defenseless Pawestinians, something that happens thousands of miles away and out of sight of his own front door, but Scotsman or no, I do believe he'd scream and faint at the sight of his own blood.

I am always surprised to find out an actor is NOT a mindless lefty.

I am pleasantly surprised that one I admire greatly for the skill he brings to his art is among them.
Bravo Mr. M.

He was the best thing about that damned 'Killing Fields' movie. So Hollywood finally "discovered" the Khymer Rouge massacre only ten years after the 'Reader's Digest' reported it.

>WWYK -- Funny, notice that not a single politician is on that list.

Sadly (or predictable) the site is dedicated to only TV show characters.

You can, however, go to the West Wing WWYK page and 1) vote for who you'd kill; and 2) read graphic descriptions of how others would like to kill them...

Martin Sheen -- referred to only as POTUS -- comes in fifth... (I don't know anything about the show, but apparently people voted someone named Ainsley as the number #1 character they'd like to see killed...)
