Going pro-Bush in Brazil

Morgan Freeman isn’t among Hollywood’s Bush bashers. The “High Crimes” star was in Brazil recently and told people that so far, George W. has been a “perfect president.”

The actor met with the Brazilian president and participated in the country’s celebration of African heritage. Freeman opined that black Americans have made strides toward equality. “Our society is gradually improving,” our source quoted him as saying. “We always speak about the duality between whites and Afro-Americans, but it seems to me that the questions now are about the Latinos and Asians. Nobody speaks for them.”

Freeman impressed the country with his eloquence, but then went on to shock them with some rather unstatesmanlike behavior.

The actor was invited to meet Brazil’s President Fernando Henrique Cardoso and had to wait about 15 minutes for the meeting. “He asked the photographers to avoid taking too many pictures of him,” our source says. “Naturally, his request was denied. So he went on to pose like, well, you know, Michael Jackson’s gesture to touch his, you know. Everyone was pretty surprised.”

Freeman couldn’t be reached for comment.

Morgan Freeman has always been one of my favorite actors. Now that he has come out of the closet for GW...well, I guess his changes for an Oscar even for Life-Time achievement are down the drain.

I hate to throw water on everyone's love fest with Morgan Freeman. But I will be willing to bet you all that Freeman after his statements get back to Hollyweird will retract or modify his praise of Dubya.

I met him several years ago under extremely stressful conditions. All I can say is that his natural demeanor is similar in courtesy to the kind of manners we generally attribute to the Bush family.

Just re-watched that movie on cable this past weekend and I agree wholeheartedly. He was awesome in that movie. Freeman, much like Samuel L. Jackson, makes every movie he's in 50% better just by being there.

I'll bet Joe Clark was an influence while Morgan was researching 'Lean on Me.'

Mr. Freeman is a classically trained Shakespearian actor, not some mindless Hollywierd thespian concerned about the next party in the Hills.

Of course liberals love Bush we see them jumping up and down with praise for him every day don't we dofuss? That must be why they are rushing his judicial nominees through the Senate isn't it dofuss? That must be why Dasshole is pushing Bush's agenda through the Senate isn't it dofuss?

Whatever you say about Bush at least he isn't a Jacobin-loving, hypocritcal, semi-traitor like your namesake.

I'm sure there was some influence there, but probably more of mutual admiration. Morgan has been closer in line with us for a number of years. But like many like minded individuals, he has kept a much lower profile about it for quite a while, and probably rightfully so, considering where he is and has been trying to make a living.

Many of us (black conservatives) have to remain in stealth mode in order to keep our jobs. My wife (She-who-must-be-obeyed) is a prime example. She is pretty high up in the welfare department in Fulton County. There is no way that she could get away with espousing her views openly there. She has to duck and cover enough with me (open mouth-insert foot daily) around.

And its ironic now that Tim Robbins has been shunned and blacklisted by the Hollywood crowd for supporting Nader last time in Florida.

Don't expect to see him or Susan Sarandon in any new blockbusters down the line..

Maybe for a more minor actor. But Freeman is a well enough repected that I doubt it will have much of a backlash.
