Thong-Wearing Teens Kicked Out Of Dance
A group of parents are calling for the resignation of Rancho Bernardo High School's vice principal, claiming she enforced underwear checks at a school dance, 10News reported.
The dance occurred Friday and vice principal Rita Wilson turned away girls who were wearing thongs, the parent said.
Kim Teal is among the several parents angry with Wilson (pictured, right).
"First thing (my daughter) said when she got into the car was, 'Mom, it was horrible last night. You have to fight this,'" Teal told 10News.
According to parent Alane Garvik, girls who arrived at the dance wearing short skirts were immediately asked: "What kind of underwear do you have on?"
When Garvik's daughter red-facedly announced that she was wearing thong underwear she was told to "go home and put on appropriate underwear," according to Garvik.
Teal's daughter made it in and claims to have witnessed faculty lifting the skirts of girls to assure that the offending underwear was going nowhere near the dance floor.
"Well, I just saw ... a line of people and the vice principal, Mrs. Wilson, she was checking to see what the girls were wearing under their dresses. And she was literally lifting up their skirts and embarrassing them in front of everyone else," one student told 10News.
Parents and students have placed the blame on Wilson, for spearheading the thong underwear checks, even though there is nothing in the school dress code against them.
"It's not their right to know what kind of underwear these kids have," Garvik told 10News.
10News contacted school officials, who all declined to go on camera. But Principal Paul Gentle did say that he is "looking into the situation."
Parents are now asking for Wilson to resign.
Gentle said that even while enforcing the school dress code, it is not proper procedure to ask students what they are wearing underneath their clothes.
He told 10News that he plans to meet with parents sometime this week.
Me too. Hell, I was even called a jackboot. Me, a Liberalitarian and all!
Time to go read up on Le Pen, the War on Terrorism or something which will work to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.
...umm, as opposed to high school girls' underwear...
you've evidently not heard:
all politics is local !
no kiddin', my jaws hurt from laughing .... )
SARAN WRAP DRESSES
Apparently there had been numerous girls who came to the dances with overcoats on, and when they shed them, everything was on display.
Certainly been a long time since I was in high school.
Regards,
And with that statement, you have just forfieted all right to rant against or bash government schools in the future.
The next time someone posts an article about condoms being passed out to 3rd graders, or some kid being told not to pray before lunch, or some kid sent home and told to remove his "I Love Jesus" T-shirt, I expect not to see your name on those threads. We will just assume you approve of the government schools actions and usurping of the parent's rights. After all, you just said, that school officials should be fulfilling parents' roles. That will be your official position on FR from now on. Deal?
O.K. I'll give you 1 more chance. Care to take it back?
I once thought this too, but it isn't true. Some girls really do prefer thongs and swear they are more comfortable. My girlfriend is one of those women; every day is thong day for her. I've asked her about it and she says she hates the regular cuts because they are uncomfortable for her. I guess it is what you are used to.
Fortunately for me, my girlfriend definitely has the ass for it.
Relax, southern rock, your blood pressure must be up. Do parents where you live pass out condoms to their young kids? Do parents where you live prohibit religious practices for their kids? If so, the south has really changed since I left there. Would you like to change your comments before we all get definite opinions about parents in the south?
Perhaps to you, but to most women they are underwear nothing more nor less. Is women's underwear in and of itself, even granny panties, erotic in its own way? I would say yes. If this is the case, then no woman should wear any, no? I'm sorry, but the undergarmet does not make the women. Blame something else . . .
Me too . . . it's a disease LOL
But if you don't want strangers lifting up your teenagers dress in front of teenage boys, then you're an anything-goes libertine-arian who's just as bad as the liberals!< /sarcasm>
Me too. But certainly not a public school teacher (or administrator) I read too many accounts of idiots parading as teachers to trust them with parenting kids.
But is it right for her to do public inspections?
Can any of my libertarian cronies reading this thread show me where I'm in error? :-)
That school district in San Diego has almost no dress code (most schools in San Diego don't), and the particular high school in question is actually in a relatively conservative neighborhood and one of the best high schools academically in the country. I know, because my younger brothers went to the high school in the article, and I went to another high school a short distance away when it was under construction. It is a very good school district.
San Diego is in a tropical ocean climate, and is sunny and warm most of the year. When I was in high school there, people showed up at school all the time in next to nothing, boy and girl alike. Lots of people wore swimwear to class, particularly as the spring started to heat up. Part of this is community standards; sparse clothing in San Diego isn't an oddity by any means, and the place has the weather for it. And while all things you mention above are technically illegal, I saw a lot of it living there and it was certainly unofficially tolerated and was the way things had been forever. People are acting like it is a big deal, but down there it is ordinary to the point of being boring.
Not that I know of. However, when public schools do those things, they are violating parental rights.
The difference between you and me is that I am against ALL violations of parental rights by government schools. You are only against certain ones.
Wether you are a good parent or lousy parent is irrelevant. That is between you and God. Parental rights are inalienable and God-given. To render them unto Ceasar is wrong IN ALL CASES.
