Saudi Prince surprises Bush with "images' of the destruction of Palestinian homes by Israeli troops
Time Magazine ^ | April 28,2002 | MICHAEL DUFFY

Sunday, Apr. 28, 2002 Trapped By His Own Instincts Try as he might, George Bush is making no progress on the Middle East. Here's why BY MICHAEL DUFFY

In very small part of this article-

Abdullah surprised Bush with three handouts — a photo album and two videocassettes — each containing powerful images of the destruction of Palestinian homes by Israeli troops. The two men looked through the book and watched the videos, the sources said.

Abdullah wanted Bush to see what people in Arab countries were waking up to every day in local newspaper and television reports — and then contemplate the anger those images generated and the pressure that placed on Arab leaders.

When will G W Bush become a republican?

Bush should have taken photos of our people jumping out of our WTC which was bombed by SAUDIS and shoved them up Prince Abdullah’s *ss so far they would have knocked his teeth out!

Sorry but I am a US Citizen FIRST, Conservative next then a Republican!

I have had it and it's time for Bush to go!

And you'll replace him with who? Gore? McCain?

So he is supposed to refuse to listen to a foriegn leader? So you assume that he didn't tell the Saudi about Sept. 11? Just becuase the Bush people don't leak like everyone else doesn't mean it didn't happen.

It is shallow thinkers who give up on the GOP at every imagined betrayl who hand the country to the left.

I don't want international relations to be viewed through a 'soft' Christianity; I want them viewed through a Roman pugnacity.

Then maybe you ought to move to Rome.

I could also show President Bush pictures from our bombing in Afghanistan which destroyed many homes and killed hundreds (if not thousands) of civilians. It's called "collateral damage". It's not intentional. Bush has the brains to understand that.

As our leader, he should not make decisions based on photos etc. We, who watch FNC have seen the horrible live coverage of what they have promoted money wise and idealistically. I think Israel has done an excellent job of rooting out the dens of evil in a short time and without help or spending their national budget. We could learn a few things from them, imo! He says on one hand, "We won't let Israel be crushed", and on the other, undermines their authority and actions by pushing Sharon to copitulate. We aren't behaving any better than the arabs with their threats to us. Never thought I'd live to see our leaders put oil and profits before human lives, both here and in Israel. I'm sick at heart over all of this!

Saudi Prince surprises Bush with "images' of the destruction of Palestinian homes by Israeli troops

What a graphic example of the difference between just plain resolve and experience!
Remember Giuliani and the $10million check?
The appropriate response should have been what is this?
And once the propaganda intent was clear, our president should have said calmly, "Let me prepare albums and videos of the "other side" of the issue and we can both review everything together."
Followed, of course, with videos and photographs of 911 and every arab terror atrocity commited in Israel for the last 20 months.

Isn't this referred to in the business as getting ambushed?
Question to all:
What would have been the "prince's" reaction if Bush had arrived in Saudi Arabia with a similar puerile presentation?
Answers should be illuminating...

The fine art of diplomacy requires Bush to listen to his guest. That doesn't mean he was swayed by the Prince's videotape. You can bet the Prince got an earful with the big hitters that were present for the meeting. Are all the Bush naysayers willing to take the economic hit that would be inevitable from an Arab oil embargo? Like ot or not, we need their oil, they need our money. Bush is pragmatic and has a calm head about the situation. He is doing what is in our best interests, and if that means we allow a slimy sheik to save face back home, fine by me. Most of us see it for what it is.

ALL:

At a small airport terminal in Texas, three strangers awaiting their shuttle flight start conversing about the recent worldly events.

The strangers were of varying cultures. One was Native American. Another was a cowboy from West Texas. The other person was a devout Arab Muslim.

During their conversation, they began to discuss their cultural history.

The Native American stated "once my people were many, now we are few."

The Muslim then chimed in and arrogantly said, "once my people were few and now we are many."

The cowboy looked at the Muslim, shifted the toothpick in his mouth and said with a sly grin, "That's cause we ain't played Cowboys and Muslims.

A shot of the Khobar Towers would work too. The Saudi's covered the terrorist's tracks in that attack.

I sure hope you are right Sungirl. Saudi Arabia is a huge part of the problem. And it's a huge, huge problem. Much bigger than OBL and Al Queda. Militant Islam is on the march, question is Are we man enough to take on the task of stopping it?

Time for the next stage. Arafat to dismantle the terrorist organization and Sharon to dismantle the settlements.

Yes, illuminating - because the Arabs did it to try to embarass and push Bush to their side and it didn't work. Would we do such a thing - NO! Because our President has class and he would never purposefully embarass his guests, no matter what his personal opinion of them was. That's what makes our President 10 leagues above these guys.

I have been saying that since he was running for gov, I am tempted to vote for Hillary Clinton next election, if only to teach the Republicans a lesson, whenever I see Dubyas snow white and the seven dwarfs smirk on TV I feel like I need to break something
