Thanks for posting this. I am horrified. Unbelievable. In your face gay catholics . . . and at a time like this. End days.

Thank you for the ping. This just makes me want to scream and jump up and down!!!! I truly mean this: I don't care if we have one priest for every 5000 Catholics and I have to drive 2 hours to Mass... Get Rid Of All The Dissenters and/or Homosexuals among the Priests, Bishops and Cardinals.

Can someone please tell me if the words of JPII are worth more than the paper they are printed on? How do you enforce them?

"Given the doctrinal issues underlying the deplorable behavior in question, certain lines of response have been proposed:a) the Pastors of the Church need clearly to promote the correct moral teaching of the Church and publicly to reprimand individuals who spread dissent and groups which advance ambiguous approaches to pastoral care;"

I appreciate your thoughts on Jesuit-sponsored homosexual ministries. I'd just like to make sure that a group of orthodox Catholic homosexuals doesn't get hit with friendly fire.

OK, I've calmed down and I'm with eastsider on this.

The following is an excerpt of the home page:

I have established the Gay and Lesbian Family Ministry to provide pastoral care for our homosexual brothers and sisters and their families in fidelity to the teachings of the Church.

It is my hope that this ministry can be an opportunity for healing and reconciliation.

Most Rev. Anthony M. Pilla

Bishop of Cleveland

I'm' afraid it is not related to Courage and it is the thinnest of covers for Dignity.

"Courage" which I believe was founded by Father Harvey is an exceptional organization. I do not believe this is the approach the Cleveland Diocese is taking or they would not be promoting Gay Pride Events.

I think Courage even advises individuals not to refer to themselves as gay or lesbian.

While I have serious doubts about the retreat, I'll wait for more evidence. However, promoting a Gay PRIDE service (particularly after everything that has transpired) is a complete outrage.

You're probably right. The Jesuits are the biggest champions of Dignity. But it really doesn't take that much effort to be certain.

I would really like to be able to take Bishop Pilla at his word. But I don't know enough about him to be able to parse that sentence. 'Fidelity to the teachings of the Church' means quite different things to Cardinal Mahoney and Bishop Bruskewitz. Can anyone advise?

Before I totally wig out, do we know if this is an approved Catholic homosexual ministry or not (i.e., a ministry that teaches chastity for Catholics with homosexual attractions)?

If it a group called "Courage" it is approved. These folks are trying to live chaste lives. If it is "Dignity", it is the liberal group who think they can do whatever they want because 'God loves them'. Yes, God may love them, but they have turned themselves away from His face by their sinful behavior.

I have established the Gay and Lesbian Family Ministry to I have established the Gay and Lesbian Family Ministry to provide pastoral care for our homosexual brothers and sisters and their families in fidelity to the teachings of the Church.

If the Bishop's statement is sincere, why is the Diocese promoting Gay Pride events. The interfaith service at a gay friendly Episcopal Church is part of a weekendlong Gay Pride Celbration including a parade.

This does not appear to be the type of event that provides "pastoral care for our homosexual brothers and sisters and their families in fidelity to the teachings of the Church."

I had to edit this photo from a recent "Gay Pride" parade.

Ladies and Gentlemen--THIS is the homosexual "lifestyle."

The people at that website claim they are part of the Body of Christ--and this is what homosexuals show as "pride"?!

If you review the website you see all the rainbow banners, the pink triangles, and the constant use of "gay and lesbian" -- none of these are part of the approach of Courage.

I am also quite certain that Courage does not embrace the rainbow and triangle - - homosexual symbols used by the diocese on its website.

To begin with, if the Diocese is even considering sponsoring a parade that gives equal time to Courage and Dignity, I doubt that Courage would send a delegation. And If the Diocese is considering giving them equal status, I think we should call the Bishop on his statement about "fidelity to the teachings of the Church."

Honest to God, I keep going back and forth over this issue. The smoke of Satan obscures everything.

I sometimes feel like sticking my head in the sand and wishing it would all go away and we could all get along...
