From the Final Communque of the US Cardinals:

On April 23-24, 2002, an extraordinary meeting was held in the Vatican between the Cardinals of the United States and the leadership of the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops and the heads of several offices of the Holy See on the subject of the sexual abuse of minors. The meeting was called with three goals in mind:

- on the part of the American Bishops, to inform the Holy See about the difficulties which they have faced in recent months,

- on the part of the Roman Dicasteries, to hear directly from the American Cardinals and the chief officials of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops a general evaluation of the situation,

- and together to develop ways to move forward in addressing these issues.

As is known, the Holy Father received the working group in his private library late in the morning of Tuesday, April 23, and gave a programmatic address. Today, at the end of the morning session, His Holiness invited the American Cardinals and Bishops to lunch, to continue their discussion of some of the themes raised at the meeting. The participants first of all wish to express their unanimous gratitude to the Holy Father for his clear indications of direction and commitment for the future. In communion with the Pope they reaffirm certain basic principles:

***

5) Given the doctrinal issues underlying the deplorable behavior in question, certain lines of response have been proposed:a) the Pastors of the Church need clearly to promote the correct moral teaching of the Church and publicly to reprimand individuals who spread dissent and groups which advance ambiguous approaches to pastoral care;

Retreat for Gay and Lesbian Catholics -- September 27-29, 2002 -- Jesuit Retreat House, Parma
Before I totally wig out, do we know if this is an approved Catholic homosexual ministry or not (i.e., a ministry that teaches chastity for Catholics with homosexual attractions)?

If we don't root out the lavender mafia boy seducing chickenhawk priests, the Church is finished.

Not the Faith, the Church.

My late father used to say, "This world isn't fit to live in, but there is no place else to go." How right he was.

Copper Sunday?

This Sunday if Catholics will contribute pennies to the tithe, perhaps they will begin to listen.

Yes, yes, we know YOUR priest is one of the good guys and not part of the problem but it's clear the Bishops and Cardinals need a stonger message....

This retreat is being held at a Jesuit retreat house. The Jesuits have reaped so many of the fruits of Vatican II that they're now run by them. You can figure out the rest.

Actually, I have no idea what goes on at the retreats at the Jesuit Retreat House. However, the Gay Pride Interfaith Service is in conjunction with an entire Cleveland Gay PRIDE weekend including a parade. The Gay PRIDERS are not folks struggling to be celebate. Rather, they are rejoicing in their deviancy.

The bird inside the rainbow triangle, is that supposed to be the Holy Ghost and isn't that sacrilege?

Believe it or not, there is one such approved ministry -- Courage. The guy who cuts my hair (I know, I know : ) belongs to it, and we had a long talk about it yesterday. He told me that as a result of the current crisis, all the references to Courage meetings in the weekly bulletins of the parishes that sponsor Courage have disappeared over the past month. This is a distressing time for all Catholics, but especially so for them.

Seeing as these Catholics are making a real (and very un-pc) effort to conform themselves to orthodox Catholic teachings, I think we should at least find out whether the "Retreat for Gay and Lesbian Catholics" is related to Courage before we FReep them. JMO.

I've no doubt that the first two events are anathema. My question only concerns the third, for the reasons I outlined in my post #19, above. If it turns out that they are related to the outlawed "Dignity," I say,

READY ... AIM ... FREEP!!!
