Bob Novak makes a United States war with Iraq sound imminent
The signal has spread through the Pentagon: on to Baghdad to get rid of Saddam Hussein, probably in September when the weather should be fine and the United States high tech arsenal will be replentished.
That's what Defense Department policymakers plan, but their cheers are balanced by apprehension among civilian and military career officials.
Some of them are apparently are crossing their fingers for Secretary of State Colin Powell to exert control over the situation. (ugh!-ed.)

September makes sense from a lot of physical, practical and logistical angles -- and there is also a certain moral symmetry to it as well.
Hey, I just hope Novak is right about it. I'm not too particular about the details (there are a lot of competent people in our military to deal with supply, logistics, weather, battle-plan, etc. etc.). It's the political will that always seems to hang us up.

That would be so sweet wouldn't it, to pull a shocker out of the hat..
And the planes have been transferred from Diego Garcia already (according to MSNBC)

Dark Wing,
I didn't know of Novak's opinion when I predicted September last night in my email to Fisher. September looked right to me based on publically available information.
Should we start the pool now?

To bad Novak didn`t give us the exact date and time and the place were the war would start. If this is true, the Saudi`s have to be in on it.

The article makes the point that its impossbile for Saddam to ignore all of the equipment coming his way.
This could be why we are getting the rumours of the 4 Republican Guard Divisions at the Jordanian border..Saddam may try and make a run for it to see if he can get Israel involved.

According to some friends of mine at AFI, they've received the first hints from their sources in Washington that a winter offensive in now being planned.

"I wouldn't question his sources at the Pentagon"
I guess him and his sources never heard of Loose Lips Sink Ships.
But then again I'm sure Novak won't be putting his life on the line
so what does he care if his quest for fame endangers our military.
Media whores in time of war are a dime a dozen.

This better be misinformation. Anybody in the Pentagon who would leak the timetable should be shot. Literally.

That would be cold, especially if the administration could nail down the link between Terry Nichols and the Bil Laden cell in the Phillipines that was in on OKC.
Might be a bit too bold for this administration, though.

"Boy....we really fooled 'em with that September stuff huh?"
With the recent troop movements being reported (Saudi/Iraq/Israel), albeit from DEBKA, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see it happening. Keep your fingers crossed! :o)
