Prince Abdulla's Arab Hypocrisy

Massive Foreign Labor Force Overwhelming Saudis

Saudi Arabia is making little headway with a series of measures meant to reduce security risks caused by the huge foreign labor force in the kingdom.

The measures include barring foreigners from sensitive positions and replacing them with Saudi nationals. Arab diplomatic sources said the measures are meant to assuage growing resentment over Saudi unemployment, particularly among university graduates. (Since so few Saudis actually learn anything but religion in "college".)

Already, Riyad has listed 34 professions as banned to foreigners amid unemployment estimated at up to 20 percent. They include mostly low-level jobs such as taxi drivers, office secretaries, typists, clerks and receptionists. (No mention of military trainers?)

Most of those jobs, however, continue to be filled by foreign nationals. (Especially military trainers.) Saudi analysts said more than 200,000 foreigners work in the public sector and an even greater number work in the private sector, where foreigners comprise 60 percent of the work force. The total work force in Saudi Arabia is estimated at 7.2 million. (So out of 7.2 million workers in Saudi Arabia, less than 3 million are Saudis. Nothing like oil welfare.)

"We are studying, through a special work team, expanding the barred jobs as part of the country's plan to replace the expatriate labor with Saudis gradually to ensure jobs for our people," Saudi Labor Minister Ali Al Namla told the London-based Al Hayat daily. (Once we can get them trained to even qualify to fill these bottom of the ladder jobs.)

"We have not made any progress and the foreign labor is actually on the increase," Saudi economist Ihsan Bu Hlaika said. (Our people are still too lazy to work for a living, although terrorism and political protest keeps a large percentage of our working aged men busy.)

Earlier this week, the kingdom implemented a ban on Saudi nationals from marrying foreigners without permission. Officials said such permission would be granted sparingly and that Saudi women would not be allowed under any circumstances to marry foreign men. (I'd like to see how the femiNazis at NOW would take that one!)

Comments in parentheses are mine. This goes to show when Prince Abdulla is here to see our President, the nation he represents is nearly the antithesis of America, or American values. We should no longer keep these arrogant, lazy, lying sheiks in power - let the "Arab Street" take care of their own. It's time to buy our oil elsewhere - maybe even from America if Dasshole will let us.

Looks like they realize that the gig is up. Let's see them run a modern country with a 14th century workforce... (Though they'll probably recruit from the EU)

Did Abdulla bring his little boyfriends with him, or did he and the other boy lovers in his retinue leave them at home this time?

He probably had them put on the veil, for the sake of appearances. Why does everyone in the Saudi royal family look like they are terminally constipated?

LOL Thanks for the ping. 11B3, you have a bright future as a conservative journalist! I'd love to have you "complete" a few more articles in just the same way. Then send it back to the originators! BTW Sleaveless, are you coming to our lunch meeting on Saturday?

That was a great line wasn't it? LT, I can't believe this but I got booked to go to a brunch to listen to Star Parker up in Lynnwood. If you guys plan to hang around at Ivars till 2 or later, I might still try to make it...My social calender is usually totally deserted and if it wasn't a conservative speaker I'd still blow it off! This is the Ivars on the waterfront, down from the Seattle Aquarium etc, correct?
