If terrorist had such bombs they would have ALREADY USED THEM. Think about it.

And exactly why do you think the Talibaners are being collected in Guantanamo Bay? Well, at least I hope they're being tortured to extract vital information. Gotta keep the "damn civil libertarian" attorneys out of the picture.

Interesting..... I just started looking for KI (potassium iodide) pills at my local health food store 2 days ago. I've got the same inkling as the general. DC and NYC are definitely the prime targets, but maybe we're easier to pick off out here in LA.

I wonder what they will say at the press conference someday trying to explain the huge mushroom cloud in the sky.

"The FBI is investigating the cause of the cloud. While the investigation is still ongoing, they say they have ruled out terrorism."

The government of the U.S. would fall immediately from internal outrage, for the first time in history should this happen.
Unless...
Mecca
Medina
Riyahd
Tripoli
Cairo
Damascus
Baghdad
Teheran

And a few other capitals are not a memory the following day.
Should that happen.

"..The biological threat is much more troublesome in my opinion than nuclear due to its portability.."

I agree. Just think about dispersing a biological agent in a place like Disney World. Vacationers would likely be back in their homestate before any symptoms begin showing up. The CDC would be able to track the origination of exposure, but NO WAY could they contain the exposure. Every gas station, resturaunt and hotel along the way would have been transmission points.

That would cause unbelievable mass chaos throughout the US.

Tom Clancey probably got it right. It isn't a question of whether, but of "How effective?" If it is stolen or borrowed from a Soviet arsenal or Pak or Iraq, will it work, or did it exceed the shelf life or have a design defect? If it works at all, what will the yield be? If it is a well-maintained nuke the Soviets built the result would be MUCH worse than the scenario in the article - think 20KT. If it is homemade... could be a dud - a small but hot and nasty mess.

They did a bunch of things, from blowing a big hole in the Cole to crashing four airliners, three into significant buildings, to the lame-ass "shoe bomber" attempt, to (probably) the anthrax letters. Do you see any pattern (other than killing Americans) in that? The Cole attack was planned and prepared for several years. They didn't just pack some explosives in a boat and go. So tell me how you know what they will do when.

Thanks General.....I'm sure terrorist across America just took note.

Actually, you might have stumbled onto something. He might want his terrorist warning to be proven correct in the hopes that the use of nuclear weapons on US soil causing thousands of US casualties might cause the public to call for the entire unilateral elimination of our nuclear arsenal in the hopes that the other nations of the world will follow suit. Of course, the rogue states of Communist China, Iran, and North Korea never would and neither would Russia for that matter.

Curiously, this GEN Habinger character is the same general who called for the worldwide abolition of nuclear weapons under Bill Clinton beginning with the unilateral nuclear disarmament of the United States. Obviously, a certain Texas Governor, George W. Bush was listening very intently to that call for unilateral nuclear disarmament as he, now President, happily eliminates the bulk of the very strategic nuclear arsenal that makes us a military superpower! Anyway, you cannot trust Habinger. He is nothing better than a Communist/globalist shill for unilateral nuclear disarmament--a recipe for Communist domination of the globe if there ever was one since the Commies and the KGB-led Russian Federation for that matter, can never be trusted to do keep their international commitments particularly as here when it is not in their interests to do so. Habinger does not have the interests of America at heart. He is trying to magnify the nuclear threat to terrorists to induce global nuclear disarmament. He may as well be in the pay of the KGB or the ChiCom Ministry for State Security based on his policy prescriptions for this country.

20 minutes after a nuke goes off in America....

I certainly hope you are right about our response, Travis. The problem is, the terrorist have to believe we will respond this way.

That is correct. Because the radical islemmings place no value on human life, they will not be deterred by threats to nuke Damascus, Bagdad or Teheran. They will just say "allah's will" to that.

That's why what does matter to them, Mecca, MUST be on the table as a counter strike option. It matters to them.

I hope that 9-11 was the wakeup call to islamic terror, and that if a WMD is used in America, the root of the evil will be obliterated.

Perhaps, Berillium works rather well as a reflector. However if our detection equipment works so will maybe we should try finding the couple of nukes we lost and never recovered.

Why? What good would it do to get those back from Taiwan?
