PORTLAND MAINE TAX FREEP APRIL 29TH
April 24, 2002

Maine has the distinction of having the highest tax burden in the U.S. We will be having our second annual protest in Portland's Monument Square (Congress Street)on April 29th.
We will have a person in a Rat donkey costume, some tax inmates and a fife and drum corps. It should be a blast.
Gregg Laugerquist (that's "news" channel 13 for those of us who DON'T watch the local media) was at the Cumberland County Republican meeting the other night and he said that there is a 95% chance it will be covered.
The event will start around 3:00 and is scheduled to end at 6:00, but can continue till we run out of commuters (or energy.)
We are CALLING ALL FREEPERS to provide signs, chants and warm bodies, to send this clear and obvious message to the public and the RATS in the legislature.
See you there and let the good times roll.

I would join you, but I left last winter, go tried of paying taxes, though I am seriously thinking of coming back because of the Carry Laws and the sea smoke in winter.

You mean there is something up there to eat besides steak and corn.
BTW Saw a moose once dodging the state bird (black Flies) in a burnt out blue berry field on route 9 between banagor and Calais, only time I have ever seen 2000 lbs of animal flesh move like a running back in the NFL.
That thing was quick.

If I can find them, I'll bring a supply of "Taxationland" stickers. They fit nicley over the existing vacationland at the top of our plates.

Let's also invite, formally, all of the candidates for governor, let's see who is serious and shows up.
What we don't need is a governor in the image of Longley, Collins and or psst, snowe.

send directions
Go to Maine, take I-95/Maine Turnpike to Portland, take 495 Exit, get off on Congress Street exit.
Drive up Congress till you hit the FReeper generated traffic jam at Monument Square.
-or-
Take the 495 exit and get off on Franklin Street Exit, go up to Congress Street and find a LEGAL parking place (like a parking garage.)

Don't forget the shackles...use the term Tax Serfs instead of tax payer Sounds like you could use a RAT dominatrix and some tax slaves to really illustrate......NAH.
