Bill proposed to raise CPL fingerprinting prices
Submitted on: April 24, 2002

MCRGO members,
a bill is being introduced by Senator Phil Hoffman to raise the state fingerprinting fee by $15.00. The bill is expected in committee tomorrow. People interested in weighing in on this bill are invited to attend the hearing in room 110 in the Farnum Building at 8:30 am or calling Senator Hoffman's office at 517-373-2426. Text of the bill is as follows:

Heads up. Apologies for the tough read, it was copied from the text itself.

I don't know what's gotten into Hoffman lately. The guy backed CCW, but he's been REAL wishy-washy lately. He's term limited too.

Jackson area residents can replace Hoffman with a real solid pro-2a'er in Mickey Mortimer this fall. And please DO NOT vote for Clark Brisee. Clark Brisbee is a RINO who is VERY ASD.

Needless to say, I'm against this bill. If you are from Wayne County, this hits you ESPECIALLY hard since the licensing body is not efficent as it is, largely thanks to Ed McNamara and Mike Duggan pulling all their people and money from the CCW dept. If they have to collect the fees too, that means they have even more work to do.

This thing needs to be killed, or amendment so much that it is more efficent, removes gun free zones, or gives us more positives.

I have to go to the capitol tomorrow anyway, so I'll see if I can go to the hearing. Hoffman isn't great, but we CAN work with him, so it's not like we are up against Mike Duggan here.

In the meantime, please call his office if you are from Michigan, and please call your state senator as well. As far as I know, nothing like this has been introduced in the state house. If it is, I'll post it here as soon as I hear about it.

Hey' if you commit a crime then you are fingerprinted FREE of charge; at taxpayers expense. If your a taxpaying citizen then you must pay an outrages amount for an unconstituional fingerprinting procedure.

Only in Amerika.

A bump for you Danny Boy.

For what it's worth, I got my prints done by the local PD (Edmonds WA) for my Florida non resident license. It cost $5.00 for the officer to dirty up my fingers and fill in the requisite blanks on the Fl. print card.

Meeting was rescheduled for 11:30 at the capitol.

I turned in the PAC report today to the Sec of State. I looked at the MPPGV PAC report. They are down to $35.55

And "People who Care About Kids" is trying to dissolve :) They were down to about $1800 and donated it to MPPGV. They didn't give it to their PAC though. Fine by me.

UPDATE - I just missed the hearing on it. Apparently, it passed the subcommittee and is now onto FULL committee. Time for me to call Garcia.
