Well, I am SO glad we finally got feminist permission, seeing as professionals have been bringing their sons to work anyways (calling it "Career Day").

Stanley Kurtz Column at NRO:
Don t Take Your Daughter to Work Celebrate a real feminist holiday instead

It's rare when I can say something positive about my public school system, so I'll take this opportunity. We have a non-gender-related mandatory countywide program called Out-to-Work Day. I've seen the packet of worksheets the students must complete. They're quite extensive and all related to skills required in a work environment. I think it's a positive activity and counts as two test grades. OTWD is coupled with Educators in the Workplace where teachers spend the day in area businesses. Any time teachers can get a dose of the real world, I think it's a good thing.

This would imply that the whole world is waiting for Ms to show the way. The fact is that at my company (a Dow 30) we already have a 'take your children to work day' after HR realized that the 'girl power day' was not worth the amount of derision and criticism they were getting. I believe that most workplaces had a 'take children to work day' for years.

Sorry Ms. You're behind.

Since we are ostensibly doing this for their benefit, why not just call it, "Take Your Chilren To Work Day?"

How accomodating of them! Actually Sir SuziQ's company has done this since the second year. After the first year, the parents of boys rightly complained, and the company just opened it up for all the kids. Our daughter and son are going with him on Thursday, and I'm going to lunch with a friend!
