"The overal suicide rate for women in now lower than it was in 1950."

Which has nothing to do with suicide rates among post-abortive women versus the population as a whole, as I'm sure you know.

It would seem that if the suicide rate for ALL women was down, then it would be hard to explain a purported increase in one sector without explaining a concomittent offsetting decrease in another sector.

As it turns out, younger women do kill themselves more often than in 1950 and older women less offten, but MORE younger men kill themselves now than in 1950, a higher increase than for women in the same age group -- which obviously can't be explained by being abortion candidates.

Your understanding of epidemiology is terribly flawed. Or maybe you understand it quite well, but hope that clouding the issue of increased suicide among women who have had abortion by bringing in the totally independant factor of increases among men, will provide cover for your deception.

By the way, are you gay? A simple yes or no answer will suffice.

Hello. I've been reading your comments on abortion and felt compelled to write to you.

First, I am a woman. The only reason I am stating this is that for some reason, both men and women seem to think that women have some divine right, some preferential right, on the issue of abortion. Dr. Kopp has articulately spoken about abortion, but I'm going to give you the emotionally side. The female side, for lack of a better phrase.

Nine years ago I was pregnant with my first child. I read a book called "Brain Sex" which discussed how men and women were different based on how their brains worked. Women "feel" ... nothing new there!

So on "feelings" I write on abortion.

I have not had an abortion nor have I been inclined to abort any of my three pregnancies. But, I am a daughter of a woman who could have had an abortion. A daughter of a man who didn't want a child, a daughter of a PRO-CHOICE woman who couldn't abort. My father told my mother to abort me; she didn't. Because of that CHOICE, four people exist in this world: myself, and my three children.

I am young. 32. I am a working mom, trying to juggle a million balls in the air and keep my marriage alive. I love life, I love God, I love my family and will do anything to protect all three. Why do I care about what other women want to do? Why do I care at all about what happens to a bunch of cells that are forming into a human being?

In essense, it comes down to feelings. I know that life begins at conception. That when the sperm meets the egg, a unique human being is created, complete with a soul, the fingerprint of God.

As a young adult, I wasn't pro-life. I wasn't pro-choice, but I didn't know what life was. When I was pregnant with my firstborn, the doctor couldn't hear a heartbeat at 12 weeks. He did an ultra-sound. My daughter was doing somersaults. Her little heart was beating so fast I almost couldn't see it; she was less than an inch, but I saw fingers and feet and a beating heart.

How can I sit back and allow any human being to be destroyed simply because they can not care for themselves? How can I sit back and say, hey, it's a choice? Isn't prostitution a choice? Shouldn't a woman be allowed to sell her body to earn a living? No, she shouldn't, just like she should be allowed to kill another human being. An innocent, helpless human being.

Would you kill a puppy who whined at you because his mother was hit by a car? The puppy may not survive on his own; can you simply break his neck because he would be better off dead?

If a pregnancy is "unwanted" or "unplanned", does that mean that the unborn baby wouldn't feel the pain of a scalpel slicing it in half? The so-called "pro-choice" legislators in California wouldn't even pass a law to allow the unborn fetus antithesia prior to an abortion ... no matter what the gestation of the fetus. In defending their right to abort, they must repeat that they are not doing anything wrong. Giving pain killers to the unborn would mean that the unborn feel pain; they can not acknowledge that. If they did, then they would acknowledge that they were killing a living human being. They can't make the connect, because it would destroy the pro-choice movement.

Abortion is murder. Abortion stops a beating heart. Use any cliche you want, but be honest. There are people who are pro-choice because they don't know better, they haven't thought about the issue. There are people who are pro-choice because they make money on the abortions. And there are people who are pro-choice because they don't want the societal problems of more children -- they don't want more blacks, more hispanics, more poor. They would rather kill them in the womb than deal with the reason for their conception.

As a woman, as a mother, as a rational human being, I can see no justification for abortion. Abortion is an evil because not only does it stop of beating heart -- kill an innocent human being -- but abortion destroys the souls of the women who obtain them.

I believe in the power of forgiveness, and I believe that many, many women are hollow and empty because of previous abortions. God bless them, and may He give them mercy. These are the women who will change the debate. These are the women who will come out and talk about their emotional pain. Because abortion IS murder, and no one disputes that a pregnancy to term will deliver a human baby.

I just want you to think about it. Think about what abortion is ... and why women have abortions. Because they can't afford the baby? Because the pregnancy is inconvenient? Because their boyfriends pressure them into it? Why? These are the issues we need to address.

God bless
