We have much better anti-depression meds today than 50 years ago, physicians are more likely to diagnose and treat depression, and thus suicide has decreased overall in those instances where it was due to organic disorder. However, suicide among the subgroup of those who have had abortion has been found to be higher than those who have not, even while overall rates of suicide may be declining.
This is not difficult to comprehend.
The link between suicide and abortion has to be made subjectively. If the rate of suicide (highest for white elderly males, by the way) has increased faster for young males than for young females -- then that subjective link is called into question. One would have expected more total suicides in the female population since 1950, not less. Your epidemic of female suicides just doesn't seem to be materializing. Your subjective link is seriously in doubt.
