[history]
Juanita Kratochvil is quick to point out that she was raised with six brothers, and among her own brood of five children, three are boys. That means she spent most of her life helping to care for critters, big and small.

Yep.
Just goes to show that dogs & ducks can get along better than Arabs & Israelis.
It makes one wonder who is the more civilized species.

Always nice to read a good story about pets. Thanks for posting it.

What, is 'is reporter ig'nernt er sumpin'? It should be,
"The duck, whose name is Mr. Duck, 4, and the dog, Blackie, 13, belong to Gerard Vrabely, who lives on his family's small farm just over the hill and DAHN the CRIK from the Kratochvil home."
Other than those egregious typos, a very good story. <|:)~

LOL, what a great story. Although I think the "kids" are grounded for life now.

The dog is part retriever and the duck is dinner. He is too old to chase him down and carry him home so he lulled him into thinking they were friends. Later he will get a soft bisquit for returning him home to receive a new name. "Peking Duck".

Well, how cute is that. Can't beat it!
A true life version of Snoopy & Woodstock!

A true life version of Snoopy & Woodstock! I was just thinking the same thing! Part of the charm of the story is the rather advanced age of both the beagle and the duck. Thirteen years... that is remarkable for a beagle.

It's A 'Burgh Thing Ping.Yep. And it makes me quite curious as to what's going on with critters in the Western Pa. community of Economy.
From the article above:
Kratochvil barely flinched when her son, Jason, 20, marched through the front door of their Economy home and shouted, "Hey mom. I caught a duck."
And a thread I posted yesterday:
(Snarling porch sitter thought to be a binturong)
This snarling stranger showed up yesterday morning on the front doorstep of an Economy couple.
To: Willie Green
HAW! I saw that binturong story on last night's news and had forgotten all about it!
To: martin_fierro, Ditto
Something wonderful is happening with the 'Burgh's Economy.
Domestic critters are displaying solidarity in the face of evil imports!!!

Where's the story about the dog saved after it was abandoned at sea for 19 days??
These dog/duck stories are just the Left's attempt to promote their sick inter-species agenda...NDDLA (National Dog Duck Love Association).
