Palestinians: alleged Ze'evi killers on trial in Arafat's Ramallah HQ

By Amira Hass, Ha'aretz Correspondent

Sources within Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat's besieged Ramallah compound told Ha'aretz on Monday that the trial had begun for the four Palestinians accused of murdering cabinet minister Rehavam Ze'evi. According to the sources, the trial began at 5:30 P.M. local time.

The judges in the trial are three Palestinian officers holed up in the compound with Yasser Arafat. After the defendants told the court that they did not have legal representatives, the judges appointed members of the Palestinian police to act as their attorneys.

After the charges were read, which lasted around one hour, the court was adjourned. The sources were unable to say when the trial would recommence.

The assassins would get a fairer trial in Israel. What a joke.

When will Arafat be put on trial? He is the terrorists' leader, like Mullah Omar and Osama bin Laden.

Sounds like a ploy by Arafat to lift the seige. He may even be willing to have the "court" find them guilty, although anything less than an immediate death sentence would be a free pass.

Interesting development.

Wow....don't they have a clue as to how silly they look? Its sorta like how my little brother and his friends would run a government? Just make it up as you go along.

I imagine they will be found "not guilty", and then they'll all have a nice lunch...

Why Arafat?

Joseph Farah

Please look at the photo accompanying this column.

Stare at it. View it carefully. Study the image.

This is the face of Yasser Arafat's terror.
This is what it looks like.
This is how he remains in power.
This is why we continue to deal with this murdering fiend after more than 30 years.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

This one may be worth many more.

The story behind this photo is simple. It's not unique. The victim is called a "collaborator" by Arafat's "police force." He was one of Arafat's terrorists who was suspected of working with Israel in some way.

The important thing to understand about this photo is that this is how Arafat rules his own people – by sheer terror, by brute force, by barbaric tactics that would be unimaginable to most in the West.

Yet, we continue to deal with him. We continue to support him financially with U.S. taxpayer dollars. We continue to give him credence as an international peacemaker.

If you care to know more details, the victim was eviscerated after this picture was taken. I have photos of that, too. I will spare you the more gruesome images.

Yes, it is, and if Israel goes along with this Stalinist show trial they deserve heavy criticism.

But it's hard to see what they can do if Arafat just decides to have them killed.

This picture is a stark, sickening depiction of utter barbarity. The eighth circle of hell is more virtuous.

Fine only if they carry out the death sentence on TV.

Yes.
And apparently, our very own Secretary of State, Powell, has been taken in by the granddaddy of terrorism (Arafat) as well.
Powell stated that it is "unproductive" to refer to Arafat as a "terrorist".
After all, he is the "leader" of the "Palestinian" people.
May God have mercy on us!
Our leaders do not recognize evil when it stares them right in the face.

Colon Bowell would negotiate with Adolf Hitler, Attila the Hun and Ghengis Kahn if they were our adversary. When do the negotiations with Osama (or his successor) begin?

Make that Ghengis Khan, didn't mean to give him a Jewish last name :)

No they dont. While the mock trial was going on,the IDF stopped an explosive laden Palestinian girl on her way in to Israel.
