ALBANY -- The Green Party could turn again to show business for a gubernatorial candidate.
The party, which has scheduled its convention for the last weekend in May in Ithaca, is trying to draft documentary filmmaker and general troublemaker Michael Moore to be its candidate.

I come to this article with mixed emotions.
On one hand, having the Greens nominate Moore would help pull votes from the Dems. On the other hand, any thing that increases the profile of Green (read:Socialist) ideas is a bad thing, IMHO.
I have to admit, however, I liked the description of Moore as a "general troublemaker."
The Green Party...has scheduled its convention for the last weekend in May in Ithaca....
Ithaca is the City of Evil.

Heh-heh-heh! Moore could never be elected and he won't draw votes from any Republican. The voters he'll attract are the ones who agree with the Kennedy-Cuomo position that hog farmers are more dangerous to the United States than Osama bin Laden.
Go, Mike, Go!

Moore has continued to rail humorously If describing Moore's rants as "humourous" does not
prove the liberal bias of the Journal, than I do not
know what possibly could.

Well, I'll have to admit that "Canadian Bacon" was pretty funny and often remarkably un-PC. Didn't Moore have something to do with that?
To: Gumlegs
Yes, I agree. Have him run. This only helps to point out the obvious - that the Green party is anit-capitalist! Many people don't realize that. They just think it's environmentalists. The sooner we can tie environmentalism with anti-capitalism, the better off we will be. Also, having a visible Green party candidate forces the Dem candidate to move left. Yes, go Mike go!

They can nominate Moore, the only trouble is, when he goes to speak anywhere, they may have to get waivers for the EPA rules on air pollution. I've heard the guy stinks, literally.

The Greens and Michael Moore - sounds like a great matchup to me; I kind of wish he was running here in Illinois.
To: Chi-townChief
If *only* he was running here in California against Simon (our guy) and Davis! Then Simon would be a shoo in!!

The only Moore I would vote for would be Rudy Ray Moore, the Avenging Disco Godfather.

" . . . you could also pull the number of votes needed to impact upon the outcome of the race and the political debate," a group of Greens wrote to Moore.
The party that uses "impact" as a verb will never amount to much.
"Impact upon"? How much more affected could the greenies sound? How about the ever-popular "affect"?

Is Dolomite still around? I thought he'd be in politically incorrect purgatory by now.
To: Clemenza
C'mon now, what about Clayton Moore? You know, the Lone Ranger? Clayton's big advantage is that he's dead, which would undoubtedly keep him from doing anything stupid. In fact, that's his major advantage over Mike - no stupid ideas. Can't you see the bumper stickers now? "Don't blame me - I voted for the dead guy."
How about Roger Moore? Okay, an inferior Bond, to be sure. But he was still better than Timothy Dalton, if you ask me. And Roger strikes me as a fairly heavy drinker, from his "shaken, not stirred" days - he'd be too likkered up to get into much trouble, unlike Mike. "Don't blame me - I voted for the drunk."
And so forth. There's lots of Moores who'd make a better governor than Mike. There's Intel cofounder Gordon Moore - he understands capitalism, unlike Mike. And Demi Moore, who could entertain New Yorkers by exposing her breasts, unlike Mike, who could cut the population in half by exposing his...
