'The Jews Have Lost Their Humanity'; 'They Do Not Raise Their Children to be Weak'
MEMRI ^ | Tuesday, April 16, 2002 | Halim Barakat

Posted on 04/16/2002 7:52:38 PM PDT by Kermit

In an article published in the London-based Arabic daily Al-Hayat [1], titled "The Wild Beast that Zionism Created: Self-Destruction," Georgetown University professor of Palestinian origin, Halim Barakat, criticizes Jewish and Zionist approaches to the Arab-Israeli conflict. The following are excerpts from the article:?

Since the Mid-20th Century the Arabs Have Suffered Double Humiliation - Domestic and External

"The Israeli military machine has passed the point of no return by choosing the path of war up to the very end against the Palestinians in direct reaction to the peace initiative adopted by the Arab summit in Beirut..."

"Unlike their rulers, the Arab people have realized that confrontation is inevitable; thus, a chasm has opened between the Arabs and their rulers."

"Since the Arabs won independence, the [Arab] state… has become a means of oppression. The people serve the state, but the state does not serve the people. The rulers, who were meant to represent the people and to work to achieve their goals and aspirations, have become a force of repression, stripping their life from them. Since the mid-20th century, the Arabs have suffered double humiliation, both domestic and external…"

The (Sleeping) Giant, the Arab People, Is Awakening

"But what we have seen during the Israeli army's invasion of the West Bank has proven very clearly that the [sleeping] giant - the [Arab] people - is beginning to awaken from his slumber, and regain consciousness and dignity, after catastrophic sights that the mind cannot believe could happen with such barbarity…"

The More Technologically Advanced the People, the Less Moral and More Barbaric It Becomes

"One of the important lessons we are learning from this time and from the Palestinian experience is that the more technologically advanced the people, the less moral and more barbaric it becomes. They have been stripped of their humanity and have become an instrument. This is how I see the inverse relationship between technological progress and civilization."

The Jews and Zionism Symbolize the Legendary "Golem" of Prague

"How have Judaism, the Jews, and the international forces all permitted Zionism to become a wild, destructive beast capable of perpetrating atrocities, all the time certain that it is using the right of self-defense by turning the hunter into [a] victim and the prey into a terrorist entity?…"

"A group of [American Jews] is planning to put on a play taken from a legend called 'The Golem,' which spread among the Jews of Europe several centuries ago."

"The legend of the Golem, from 16th-century Prague, tells of a rabbi who breathed life into a clay statue in an attempt to create a savior for the Jews so that this savior would take revenge on their enemies. According to the legend, the statue became a giant creature, a Golem, who did take revenge on the enemies of the Jews. But because of the atrocities it committed, it became afflicted with pride and great vengefulness, which caused bloodshed to those it had originally sought to protect."

"From that time, this legend expresses man's alienation from himself and the things he creates. What man creates becomes, without his will and without him being aware of it, a force acting against him. He establishes a state that rules him, instead of him ruling it. Thus it happens that man establishes a political party, a union, a movement, an organization with the aim of serving man. But over time they develop needs of their own that contradict the needs of society and of the man who created them."

"Zionism arose as a result of the persecution of the Jews in Europe. But it quickly became a means for serving its leaders, who acted with the help of the British and then American colonialists for the establishment of their own private state on the ruins of Palestinian society, [and] to uproot and exile the Palestinian people."

"The rabbis of Judaism breathed life into the clay statue, and Zionism arose, an arrogant power that destroyed Palestinian society and the Palestinian people that was completely unconnected to the Jews' original tragedy - and all in the name of saving the Jews."

Both Sharon and Peres are Zionist Criminal Creations

"Then, Zionism breathed life into the clay statue and it turned into a military state, armed to the teeth with weapons of mass destruction. In time, it became a means of destruction acting outside the will of man, who can no longer control it. The Israeli Jews are no longer strong in and of themselves; [they are strong] with the strength of their airplanes, missiles, tanks, armored vehicles, helicopters, and tractors that uproot trees and destroy homes."

"[The Israeli Jews] have turned into an instrument; their humanity has shriveled. In battle, the Palestinians are not confronting brave soldiers, but instruments that obliterate everything in their path. The more Israel's technological capability increases, the less civilized it becomes…"

"The rabbis breathed life into a clay statue; they huffed and they puffed until they created a giant round man named Ariel Sharon. He too is an instrument, subject to and an integral part of the other armament instruments. Another man who became an instrument is Foreign Minister Peres, who won the Nobel Peace Prize but turned from a man of peace into a criminal who carried out the Qana massacre, and then into Sharon's partner in the current crimes."

The Zionists Do Not Raise Their Children to be Weak and Human

"Like the Golem, so are the leaders of Zionism in this time: Their goals justify their means; they do not serve God, but an avenging God. They do not raise the younger generations [to be] human and weak Jews who respect the rights of others and are partners in human civilization. [They raise them to be] the strong Jew who avenges by destroying himself as he destroys others…"

"But the Palestinian people knows what it wants for itself, and it will not relinquish its natural rights. It pays the price as it is motivated by the power of faith, and by confidence in its ability to find its destiny despite the crises. It rises up from within it, creating a legend of its own that will become a fountainhead of valor…"

"With its wounds and dead bodies, Nablus has proven that it is indeed a 'mountain of fire.' Bethlehem has proven its spiritual unity. And in all pride, I say that Jenin is the city of the Arab future."

So, if the Jews move out and the Amish moved in the Muslims nutz would be nice? I don't think so.

This is a religious war. And the fanatics are brainwashed. Even this Georgetown "professor".

This is an interesting, if frugal, reuse of a post from another thread. Surely you can regale us with some fresh insights on the matter, can you not?

And that it precisely why this situation in the middle east must come to a end. However, there is little moral equivalency between what happened with the slaves and the treatment of Palistinians.

The Pali's are not slaves.

They are kept in refugee camps at the bequest of their so called leaders.(clinton admin. tried to build housing for them and Arafat refused)

They have broken each and every cease fire since day one.

But, you are correct that the children and children's children are becomming de-sensitized, demoralized, and more bitter each day on both sides.

And the big brave "Giant" will send it's little children out to throw rocks at soldiers and it's 16 year old daughters to blow themselves up in restaurants.
