WASHINGTON Sen. Paul Wellstone's campaign is struggling, getting support from just 42 percent of Minnesota voters, according to two recent partisan polls.
On Monday, national Democrats released a poll showing Wellstone, D-Minn., narrowly leading Republican challenger Norm Coleman by 42 percent to 40 percent.
Earlier this month, national Republicans released their own poll of Minnesota voters showing Coleman ahead, 49 percent to 42 percent.
The Wellstone campaign cites a history of close races, saying this is business as usual.
But two political analysts think the results spell trouble for the senator. Here's the full article

Thanks. You just made my day. May he go down in flames.

Boy would that be a great win for us, regardless of its effect on our ability to take back the Senate as a whole.

As I recall, similar stories circulated six years ago in MN, and the Republicans offered a "moderate" in former Senator Boschwitz. Now there is another "moderate," former Mayor Coleman who is challenging the socialist Wellstone. In time, MN liberals nearly always win. They even held out for Mondale-Ferraro in 1984. Sometimes, the liberals in MN appear vulnerable, but they usually "come home" on election day.

It's fun to think about though ... I'm sure the Dems will come up with a sufficient gimmick or scary enough lie to insure Wellstone's return to the Senate.

The article I read in the Pioneer Patch asks why the Dems would run this poll. Answer: This is an SOS to Dem. donors (think Hollywood & Wall Street) and fundraisers (think FReeping Bubba in Minnesota in the fall!).

Not if Daschle wants to make sure Wellstone fails...

This is an SOS to the Left Coast, New England, New York, and Florida. x42 probably has his jet flights and concubines already lined up in St. Paul...

True that Min usually tips left, but 6 years ago the country was spoiled. Now we are at war. The right is going to come out full blast. Our issues are dominant. If the MN GOP can efficiently publicize Wellston's socialist beliefs, and how these are at odds with everything we are fighting for, there is a chance. Attack on all fronts, and start now!

Remember, tie goes to the Democrats. How strong is the vote fraud machine up there?
