Some People

I am not sure I am doing this right, or that I have chosen the correct catagories, so Play Nice and please don't blast the Bronze-Age Gal!

My friend Trajanus just sent me this. He wrote it, I did not. Trajanus is a former Green Beret, my daughter's Godfather, and holds a degree in Political Science. He was also our Best Man at our wedding nearly 20 years ago.

Some People

First, it is not Israel. It is not Palestine, or the Palestinians. If there were no Israel, and if the Palestinians held clear & uncontested title to the useless, barren desert that Palestine was at the turn of the last century, some people would still throw bombs at us. And this is why?

· We teach our females to read and to write. We send our girl children to school; and with the boys at that. We expect them to learn the same things. · We routinely select our own leaders. We often shape our own laws. And while there are some among us who would have it otherwise, we maintain the separation of Church and State. Our Pastors and Preachers, Priests and Rabbis, do not run the country, do not sit as judges in our courts of law, and for the most part, do not want to. · We do not cut off the hands of thieves. We do not execute women for unauthorized contact with men. Should our men kill female relatives for "dishonoring the family"; we prosecute those men. If convicted, we (in some states) execute them. · With mixed success, we discipline our children. We make some attempt to prevent them from running around in howling packs. The majority of us do not teach our little boys that it is permitted to hit our little girls; because they are only little girls. Most of all, do not use our children as human bombs to kill other children. And we think people who do that are wrong. · Even if there were no Israel, some people would try to kill us for taking sides in their innumerable and insane internal squabbles. They would also try to kill us, for our "indifference?", if we did not take sides in their quarrels. · We "allow" our women to dress as they like. We "let" them work in the same professions as men. We even "let" them go to church with the men. We hold that women stand equal before the law with men. · We do not dance in the streets and distribute candy to children when we hear that thousands of innocent people have been murdered without warning, in cold blood. · We do not encourage mad dogs, or admire them. We do not name our childrenafter them, or encourage them to grow up to be mad dogs. We shoot mad dogs (or at least, we used to).

Our ideals of tolerance and equality, of rational thought and behavior, and of personal freedom, are anathema to some people. That's why we have trouble with them. That's why we're going to continue to have trouble with them.

TRAJANUS.

I'm so excited! I let Trajanus know that I had posted his comment. I just hope he isn't mad because I didn't really ASK him if it was okay before I did. I also made sure he had a link and later I will tell him about your "Well Said!" Tia

Here it is with a little format applied!!

Thanks, Nitro! I am still learning how to do this. Makes it worse, Trajanus sent it to me, in e-mail from work on his win-Doze machine, I got it on my Mac, and had to fiddle with it a LOT to get it posted . I appreciate the formating! :-) Tia, the Bronze-Age Gal

I just hope he isn't mad because I didn't really ASK him if it was okay before I did.

There's an old saying that it's easier to get forgiveness than permission.

I apologize for being short with you, I remember when I started here and was wondering, help wasn't offered...

they treat it like military bootcamp, you have to suffer a little before you learn, I don't agree so...!

Here is a link to HTML Bootcamp!!

Concentrate on posting links and images and the rest will come easy!!
