[history]
The week began with the United States being challenged from hither to yon. Some parts of the Philippines are in an uproar; in the Balkans, people die by violence day and night; and Afghanistan remains a killing field.
In Israel, Ariel Sharon stepped up his offensive in the West Bank and Lebanon, while Yasser Arafat's intransigence grew by the hour. Iraq closed down oil deliveries to the West, and Saddam Hussein will remain as the undisputed monarch of weapons of mass destruction as long as Sharon's incursions remain in place.

Sometimes these weekly essays by our anonymous British friend are total washouts, while many times they are home-runs. Today's, although rambling and disjointed in spots, makes one very good point: Clintoon holdovers are sabotaging President Bush's foreign policy.

Foggy Bottom needs an enema. All of Klinton's appointees and employees, together with those of the laughable Carter fiasco, MUST be purged if we are to win this war. The holdovers from the President's father's administration need to be shown the door as well. Furthermore, I hope someone tells the folks mentioned in the article, the Scowcrofts, the Eagleburgers and the like to return forthwith to their country clubs and cocktail parties. Repeated failures deserve no opportunities to repeat their mistakes at this level.

Definitely - they all need to be replaced with people who can be trusted to carry out the current administration's wishes - not those of x-42. Actually, they need to be replaced with people who will do what's right for America, not for themselves.
