Doesn't it strike you as odd that the more spectacular catches of late in Pakistan and Spain seem to be derived from electronic intelligence and not from local informants? Those individuals stuck out from the crowd. Non-Pakistani's must also be standing out in Pakistan right now, yet the important breaks we've received in Pakistan have come from electronic intel and not local informants. Yet the ISI is supposedly everywhere in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
I know, it is odd that so much seems to have gotten by with so little notice. But of course, I guess Daniel Pearl was trying to get a little on-the-ground information in Pakistan, and look where it got him!
I must say, though, that I don't think I'd just shrug this off if I saw something like it again. With the benefit of hindsight, I think I'd try to find some sort of law enforcement "tips" hotline and call or send an e-mail.
