It seems that despite strict anti-gun laws, more Israelis are getting personal protection.
No. I supported the Palestinians because I saw the Zionists as mainly socialist (despite reforms in the last 20 years), because of a biased book that I had read, and because I believe in freedom and property rights and I believe that the Zionists had stolen what rightfully belonged to the Palestinians.
While I still believe in freedom and property rights, I have read more on the subject (and will continue to do so) and I have learned that despite being a Jewish state, Israel has accepted some Arabs as citizens, repatriated some to their private lands, and compensated others. While not perfect, I am sure that it is better than the Arabs would do reciprocally.
Don't get me wrong -- I didn't believe in some Palestinian state pre-existing. I was more concerned with individual Arab landowners. While some may have fled due to Arab army requests, others supposedly fled because of reported massacres such as the one at Deir Yassin. I have not researched that matter more.
The lack of a tradition of militia such as we have in the US though is a bad mark in my book. But I do know that individual Israelis fought during the war for independence just by looking at pictures of Jews on watch at kibbutzim. If anyone can contrast Israeli gun laws with this article I am interested in hearing it.
