FReeped NO. When is CT legislature going to ban radios or hot coffee in cars now? Jeesh.
To: Puppage
And what else shall we ban in the name of saftey? The poll is not banning the cell phone it is banning hand-held phones.
To: All
Geez people. Get a
hands free unit. There are much more important things to worry about.
To: Puppage
Oh, well, the Americans with Disabilities Act is already trying to outlaw stairs! You're too late with that idea.
I don't mind you driving down the road with a cell phone stuck in your ear if you don't mind me tossing ball bearings out the car window in front of you!

Perhaps, I need a "Time Out"? Again, where's the line going to be drawn here? Do we make talking to your passenger a ticketable offense? After all, THAT's a distraction that may SOMEDAY cause an accident. Maybe, we should ban driving with a passenger altogether? Please define "potty mouth" for we adults here.

Sorry, but that's assault, possibly destruction of property. A bit different than what we're discussing here.

but you're willing to give up your rights for a "feel good" law? Talking on a cell phone is my right? Or is driving my right?

I voted no. We should eliminate stupidity not cell phones.
To: Coop
It's just another incremental infringement on our liberties. Yet, another way for the Police to introduce themselves to us. Just like the seatbelt law, which, although it saves lives, is nothing more than a revenue generator for that state/town.

So where does that leave her mind? Not on driving if she's yakking, eating, drinking, combing, eyelining, lipsticking, tweezing, reading,or fumbling with one hand on the wheel.

My comments were from personal experience, lots of them.
Perhaps it doesn't affect you because your so busy talking on your phone you didn't realize you just cut me off or are going 40 in the left lane.
THAT is my point. If people with hand-held cell-phones weren't a menace, this would be a non-issue.
"Please define "potty mouth" for we adults here."
Using any curruption of the "f__k" word is the same as saying it. Foul language is childish, I don't care how old you are cronilogicaly.

If it means saving a life, then it DOES make me feel good. This is not about taking away your individual liberties. You can still talk on a hands-free phone, listen to music/news, talk to your passengers, and eat at a drive-through McDonalds. That doesn't sound bad to me.

Like the gun control losers.."if it saves just ONE LIFE, then it'll be worth it". Please, that's a tired argument.
"If people with hand-held cell-phones weren't a menace, this would be a non-issue"
Like the people driving with screaming kids are a menace? Like the person who drops hot coffee on themselves while driving? Define menace.

This thread has nothing to do with gun control. It has to do with people who can't control a vehicle when they need to because one hand is not on the steering wheel...like the woman who swerved in order to miss me because she had a cell phone glued to her head.
I didn't bring up the word "menace", but since you mentioned it, anybody who fits into the category of this woman is a menace to me. I don't want to die because of some dumb person who is more concerned with grasping a cell phone than steering her car.
