Why, exactly, am I less trustworthy as a civilian to fire this pig?No UCMJ, nor a chain of command.

You forgot to mention it was 43 1/2 inches long and fired at 550-650 rpm.

That UCMJ and command is under civilian control. Is he not a civilian?
To: patton
Actually. You can have one. Ya just gotta pay the $200 tax.

And live in a state that will allow it. And you have to PAY FOR IT this time, you don't get it for free.

Unfortunately, M60's are extremely expensive for civilians. They must be on an ATF Form 3 (dealer) or Form 4(individual) transfer tax status form, and on the National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934.
You must first FIND the M60 that you would like. Most all are used (read well used).
Then you must decide on the quality...reweld, receiver only, or a quality Maramount or RIA (Rock Island Armory) gun.
Then you must have the seller, be it an individual or Class 3 FFL holder send it to your local friendly Class 3 FFL if out of state.
Then you must pay for the weapon. A receiver only will run you $8,000. A New in Box (NIB) Maramount will run you $20,000, an RIA will run you around $15,000. The eight (8) original M60E3's on the registry are around $40,000 each.
You must then fill out the ATF form 4 if you live in an NFA friendly state. You must get a chief law enforcement official (CLEO) to sign off for you and do a set of fingerprints. Then you must send the fingerprints (2 sets) with 2 photos and 2 Form 4s to Chicago for your $200 transfer tax to be cashed.
Your application for transfer of the machine gun will then be sent to DC where it will sit on a desk for four months until the lazy S.O.B.'s at the NFA Branch do an FBI background check and then put a little stamp on one of your Form 4's, and then send it to the dealer or individual holding your weapon for all this time.
When you get your form 4, you can then take possession of your firearm.
I have two M60's and one is a dealer sample, not transferble to civilians. FFL, LEO, or military only. The other is my "safe queen".
Let me know if you still want a "pig".

Oh yes, bring your guns too!

M60E3 = POS ....
Go with a MAG58 or a BAR of all things.
To: Centurion2000
Go with a MAG58 or a BAR of all things. I can get both for him. Trouble is Kent Lomont in ID has both of the only tranferabl Mag58's...he is asking for $100,000 a pair.
The BAR's are harder to find to, especially quality ones.
A Marlin or Winchester M1918 will run you $20,000 for mint. A new manufactured Group Industries will run you $16,000 or more.
