WICHITA, Kansas (AP) -- A woman who used fertility drugs gave birth to sextuplets Saturday and doctors say the three boys and three girls appear healthy.
Only 96 sets of sextuplets have been born worldwide since recording began in the early 1900s, said doctors at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Joseph, where a 24-member medical team delivered the babies by Caesarean section Saturday afternoon.

Thank you for posting this article.
Prayers heavenward for these little gifts and their family.

You're welcome. The last line in the story says it all.
She and her husband had already seen six heartbeats flickering on the doctor's sonogram video monitor.

What beautiful little faces! And to think if they had listened to the docs, there were only be two pictures instead of six! How blessed these parents and their daughter are. And here I thought my 4-year-old was excited about the one baby we're expecting in September! This story has made my day for sure.

Until Saturday Rago had a population of 12. [...]
Residents of Rago, Kansas, are hoping the birth of sextuplets that doubled the town's population
They had 12. Now they have six more. How did that double things?

If you average the babies' weights out to be 3 lbs. apiece, then the mother was carrying 18 lbs. of infant at one time exclusive of any other weight gain. Wow. I am properly amazed.

And perhaps 12 feet kicking at once!

This says the mother had been in the hospital already for NINETY-THREE DAYS! Can anyone imagine what that bill would be?
Perhaps the meaning of the "doubling" was that the prairie spot did have SIX residents, this family of 3, and three other persons, and NOW it has twelve.
In any event, it seems doubtful that so small a community would have the church, community organizations, and medical and other facilities, to support such a household, so no doubt they will be moving closer to a town...looks pretty sparse all the way into Wichita though-- who ever heard of Cheney or Harper?

And who's going to be paying the medical bills? Why, you and I, of course.
To: Calico Cat
Well, I pay for my private health insurance and I don't mind some of my premiums paying for these kids at all. They might even grow up and contribute to the same insurance company that may spend a few dollars on me some day. That's how it works, no?
I'm not all that big on my tax dollars being used to fund abortions.
