Professional protester is bane of TV news crews

A full-time protester is annoying news teams in Taiwan by standing behind them holding up placards as they make broadcasts.

Ke Shih-hai has been protesting for the past year about what he claims are the country's unfair judicial practices.

The 46-year-old millionaire has put aside his business interests and made protesting his career.

He has an information gathering team to keep him up to date with news events so he knows where to appear with his placards.

He says he has been yelled at and even beaten up by TV crews and photographers angered by his presence.

He told The Sunday Times: "That's the most effective way to stage a protest as millions of people will be able to know what I want to say through the televised broadcasts.

"I don't obstruct the journalists in their covering of news and my messages get conveyed through the cameras. It's a win-win situation.

He also protests on behalf of others.

"I have more than 100 placards that I will take turns to display on behalf of 78 protesters," he said.

Recently, under his guidance, Ms Wu Chin-yeh, who suspected her husband was murdered, scared Justice Minister Chen Ding-nan by thrusting the skull of her late husband in his face.

He has cojones, that's for sure. Plus compare this line from one of the stories

I have found the judicial system here not fair. Only a few judicial officials are fair and honest...

with a lione from the FR front page.

We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption,...

in case anyone can't read the placards, here's what they say.

"Crusading for justice, protester Ke Shih-hai holds up two anti-establishment placards. The one on the left slams the government for crushing press freedom. The other highlights a local case of police malpractice.

Last month, Mr Ke brought his crusade one step further by helping others air their grievances.

'Now I have more than 100 placards that I will take turns to display on behalf of 78 protesters,' he said.

His involvement does not end there.

He has even imparted tips to others on how to capture media attention.

Recently, under his 'guidance', Ms Wu Chin-yeh, who suspected her husband was murdered, scared the wits out of Justice Minister Chen Ding-nan by thrusting the skull of her late husband right in his face.

WHAT A MAN!!!! We should make him a Freeper! We should let him know he has our support! Anybody know how to contact this guy?

I have a girlfriend who is brave and conservative. Several years ago NOW had a parade here, and the liberal press was out in force to take pictures of the brave, progressive women marching down the street for reproductive rights. My girlfriend made a sign, and marched down the street even with the first line. She did not say anything, just marched evenly with them so no large pictures could be taken of them without her pro life sign. The next day the liberal paper had a tight in shot of a couple of faces, but that was it. They could not risk their agenda being blown by getting that sign in. The next time they saw her at a rally (she wasn't protesting that day, she was walking her daughter in a stroller) their pent up hatred came out and they physically attacked her. They knocked over the baby in the stroller. I consider her a conservative Christian heroine. She is a role model for me.
