My take on Austin Police's refusal to arrest on immigration violations is much the same as yours. Where do these twits get off thinking that they can pick and choose which laws they are going to enforce? You'd think that they would want to maintain the best relationship with those that pay their salary. Perhaps that's it; the cops are getting a bigger contribution from the illegals. Just speculating.

Considering how the Mexican drug cartels work ---paying off the police and politicians, you're probably right.

Austin Police Assistant Chief Rudy Landeros says, "Our officers will not, and let me stress this because it is very important, our officers will not stop, detain, or arrest anybody solely based on their immigration status. Period."

Sounds like a conflict of interest to me. Someone check Rudy Landeros immigration status.
