Austin Police Won't Arrest People Only For Immigration Status

The U.S. Justice Department, which controls the Immigration and Naturalization Service, says it can't handle the 7 million immigrants currently in the U.S. Therefore, it is considering a proposal to allow local police to do their job for them. Nearly 8 months ago, 19 hijackers slipped through America’s immigration security net committing the most devastating terrorist attacks on American soil. Now, controlling immigration in America has become drastically more important. Austin police say adding immigration duties would undo the trusting relationship local police have built with immigrants. Police say illegal immigrants often do not report crime, for fear they will be deported. Austin Police Assistant Chief Rudy Landeros says, "Our officers will not, and let me stress this because it is very important, our officers will not stop, detain, or arrest anybody solely based on their immigration status. Period." Austin police say however, they will continue to cooperate with federal agents who have criminal warrants for illegal immigrants.

In Arizona, seatbelts are mandatory. Yet legally a stop cannot me made SOLELY for observed absence of seatbelts.

In Ohio when they passed that same law years ago they said it would stay that way. Law has been changed. They CAN pull you over for not wearing a seatbelt now. As usual, the government lies. But I do wear my seatbelt while writing my senators and reps here at the statehouse. Many of them have been helpful in the past on problems, and surprisingly I have found many in various areas share my sentiments. But they are often outnumbered. Rep Wise from Cleveland area was one such man and worked with me and others vogoursly to defeat/postpone some legislation (outcome based education).

But again, I do see the points made very well.

Sounds like a conflict of interest to me. Someone check Rudy Landeros immigration status.

----------------------------

We are in a present situation where there is refusal to enforce a law by people whose parents parallel the people they are supposed to arrest. Local populations and law enforcement officers are from a background that makes them prone to aid illegal immigration.

I want my local police help little old ladies cross the street not be arresting my gardener

Oh, thats a credible statement. We see our police helping old ladies across the street all the time, in newpapers, on tv news. LOL! If your stinking gardner is here illegally, he needs his butt arrested and deported.

We are a nation of laws, just keep repeating that. I am confident that you will understand in time.

This goes well with this discussion:
A witness to a northern New Mexico killing last year has been deported to Mexico, a week before he was to testify in a murder trial.

He should be more than fired, he should face charges of treason right along with Johnny Walker.

I think the American hiring the person illegally should be the one arrested. They should also be fined for all the Social Security taxes and other taxes not paid by their illegal. Also they should be charged for any healthcare and education costs for the illegal and his family because it was that illegal employer who tried to gain the benefits of cheap labor at taxpayer expense.

If you hired that gardener an busboy to avoid paying a legal wage and taxes, you should be the one fined. Why should the taxpayers pick up the tab so you can have personal servants at a very cheap cost ---to you but not to us.

Landeros is openly declaring his malfeasance of duty, thus encouraging further lawlessness.

I agree. This dirtbag and those like him responsible for law enforcement have somehow suddenly decided that they have the ability to determine which laws they should and should not enforce. There are several other agencies guilty of this (most of the Orange Co. police departments, the PD's of San Diego, San Joaquin Co., Los Angeles (aka Little TJ), Salt Lake City, and others around the country. This could get to be very, very exciting. I hope that it does.

I don't like the idea of cops or the INS going door to door looking for illegals. I think the INS and border patrol should do their jobs at the border and going after the illegal employer would be more effective. Every last dime the illegal cost the taxpayers should be given back by the illegal employer.

I have and it hasn't worked very well for me. Maybe it has for you, if you haven't been paying attention in the past few years (or in the past few weeks when Robert Ray made his presence known, for example.) I hope you and your side keep repeating these mythical mantra while you chew on your delicious apple a day which cost only 69 cents a pound thanks to that illegal immigrant picker from El Salvador. But then, meditation mantras aren't about reality, on the contrary, they're about escaping reality.

I don't. I thought it was maybe a picture of an American answering his door to IRS agents because he failed to file an income tax return.

I don't like the idea of cops or the INS going door to door looking for illegals.

I like less, the idea of million upon millions of criminal illegal aliens invading my country, with millions more on the way.

Yes, I knew about that.
There are stats pointing out that on a numerical basis, fewer percentage of illegals are in jail. Which is stat true.
However, that may be to the deportation black hole. When in doubt, ship 'em out. Due process be damned, just classify 'em as illegal and bus 'em to Mexico. Might be a confused Peruvian with legal status who legally came in via Canada and France, but how the hell is he gonna' complain from the bus station in Los Mochis?
Thanks for the chat, I gotta' go.
