We are sending you this open letter because we are deeply concerned.
You see, for weeks we have been sounding the alarm on the cloning issue, but it seems that Americans really do not care.
We fully expected that once researchers announced that they had successfully cloned a human embryo, tens of thousands of citizens would stand together to say "No" to cloning.
But it hasn't happened. In fact, even with a historic Senate vote imminent, we have not seen such a groundswell.
Even as we make final preparations to deliver more than 250,000 signed petitions to the Senate floor on April 10, we do so with some disappointment, for it seems most Americans are oblivious.
When the history books are written about our time, the issue of human cloning will be at the top of the list. Historians will report either that our generation opened the door for cloning or stood firmly on moral grounds to stop cloning.
This is a turning point in human history! The very nature of human life is at stake. Yet where is the outcry! Where is the outrage?
Back in January 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling in Roe v. Wade that legalized abortion in all 50 states. Nearly 30 years later, abortion is an entrenched part of our society.
Next month will be the equivalent of January 1973 for the cloning issue. Next month, the Senate will vote whether to ban all forms of human cloning, or open the door for clone-and-kill "therapeutic" cloning.
This is a historic vote! It could have equal impact on our society as the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision!
But we ask...
Do Americans care?
At this point, we are not sure.
If you think this is an urgent issue, we encourage you to forward this open letter to your friends, right now. Urge them to take a personal stand against human cloning by clicking below:

It seems we have grown cold and insensitive to the silent cries of millions of babies aborted yearly. And now our science has made a breakthru...to add to the millions of babies aborted by their own mothers, these scientists can now create their own embryo's to abort after they are done studying them. And somehow government sees nothing wrong with this. Where is our country heading? What is the difference between this and mass murder? Don't we put serial killers in jail for murdering innocent people one after the other. Oh, I forgot. Babies aren't people yet right?

The United States cannot stop cloning no matter how many petitions we get together. There are scientists overseas who are going to move ahead with the technology regardless. Even if the civilized nations of the world banded together and agreed to stop cloning, the scientists who have made cloning their life's work will find some third country cesspool to master their craft. The genie is out of the bottle and we shall see where it takes us.

I think cloning is a self correcting problem. The immense difficulties of getting it right will result in individuals with hideous genetic defects, some of which will not show up in early childhood. It sounds cold but a war against anything will result in the deaths of innocents. Humans will learn that, just because they can start something doesn't mean they can finish it. The outcry that will accompany the pitiful deaths (or more pitiful lives) of the unfortunately afflicted genetic disasters will sound a lot louder than the muted protest of today.
I desperately hope.

Biotechnology is real and here.
Cloning is no big deal.
Soon we will all be able to regenerate body parts!
The only problem is how we will expect to maintain population numbers for longer periods when we have exhausted our resources.
Science must solve these pressing questions.

THANK YOU!!!!!! You are so right. If we allow human cloning to happen, we will allow the human race to forget God. If we create life itself, we will be saying we are better than God. Other Americans may not care......but......I care.

By that definition, we've been creating life for many decades (millenia if you count planting seeds and breeding animals). We're not creating life. We're manipulating it. We've been cloning plants for well over a century. We haven't created anything.
I've no opinion concerning the practical or moral implications of cloning. I don't know if it's right or wrong. If we begin growing self-aware humans and start salvaging their parts, I'll find an opinion quickly.

If we allow human cloning to happen, wewill allow the human race to forget God.Most of the human race does not believe
in your God. But thanks for playing.

I don't know about other Americans, but I am simply waiting for the fireballs from the skies.

"Most of the human race does not believe in your God. But thanks for playing."
That is not a problem. Most people reject God. They have their time on earth, and then they die. That is when the leather hits the pavement.
