Maybe they can teach the kids the wonderful traditions of Robert Mugabe or Idi Amin.

Does this mean that the school will be pro-slavery? That's the reality in much of Africa.
To: Clemenza
"..The district currently teaches African-themed history, geography, culture, values and languages.."That should help the kids overcome the racial prejudices they say they are exposed to and compete on the same opportunity level as whites.

Now if they REALLY want to do this right, they need to move the entire school to Uganda. I'm sure the whole experience would seem so much more real to them that way.

I'm so glad I don't live in a city anymore and have to deal w/ this kind of stupidity on a recurring basis. <P. Some people are so determined not to face the real problems in their communities that they will turn everything upside down to avoid it.

Sounds unconstitutional to me. Is this really a public school?
To: Pietro
You find a lot of idiocy in suburban areas as well, particularly in the NY/NJ/CT. Between the soccer moms, exurban "sophisticates" and the Union goons, I don't want such BS!

What exactly is a African centered school I don't know. I wonder which part of Africa. Egypt? Rwanda? Nigeria? The Pygmies?
I'm sure the Zulus and Tutsis(sp) have a lot in common...
To: Icthus
The district currently teaches African-themed history, geography, culture, values and languagesThe schools haven't been able to teach America-themed history, geography, culture, values, and languages....what on earth makes the parents believe they will successfully teach African-themed ones?
That said, how sad that yet another batch of black kids will emerge from school with ethno-centric and feel good indoctrination but without skills and knowledge for careers that will actually make them successfull. How utterly sad. And by the way, I'd be saying the same thing if they had established a Danish-themed school (from my mom's side) or a Southern-themed school (from my dad's side). This is completely useless information.

Maybe it's just a school dress thingy.

Several black parents at that meeting, upset by the delay, had accused white board members of racial bias and of ignoring parents' concerns.Held hostage again by racial scare tactics and division. I wonder if this is an integrated middle school?
To: Icthus
Guess they'll do just fine on the " African Centered " C.A.T. Test, The" African Centered "Stanford Achievement Test, The "African Centered" Terra Nova Test, not to mention the " African Centered S.A.T Test soon to be released. Kansas City will be a hotbed for McDonald's employment Career Fairs . " Do you want fries with that " or dat ???????

I also want an Irish heritage school!! I want to learn about the people of Ireland, the history of Ireland, the customs of Ireland-but, wait !!-I already know that!! Taught to me by my parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc. And not a word of it was done on school time.
To: Dan from Michigan
And they can divide the school into two castes: Hutu and Tutsi. Instead of dodgeball they can use machetes!

That's the intention. Job security for black teachers. Lots of feel-good stuff to be proud of. Students that graduate without the skills to succeed in "the white man's world," so they will be dependednt on the Democrats for continued affirmative action, government jobs, public assistance, etc.
If they actually gained valuable skills, they might eventually run off from liberal plantation.
