I wonder how making drugs legal would have prevented this. Don't worry, as this thread will show, is impossible to overestimate the ability of the legalizers to rationalize.

I saw a program on the Discovery or TLC some time ago about the Golden Gate Bridge and suicides. One man managed to survive the jump and he told the interviewer that the instant he jumped, he regretted his decision. I would imagine it was the same feeling for most of those who did manage to kill themselves.

"Blaming pro-legalizers for this stuff is infantile."And pretending that legalization would prevent it is intellectually dishonest.

And pretending that legalization would prevent it is intellectually dishonest. Indeed. So as soon as you see somebody say such a thing, you be sure to let him know.

Well, I can tell you what making drugs illegal would've done in this case...
I say, legalize drugs and take 20% of the $$ spent on enforcing drug laws and give the best treatment possible to those who want it. Add in another 20% of the money used now for education and give the rest of the money back to taxpayers. I know a person who was a drug addict and she had to be kicked out of treatment after a few days because there was a shortage of beds and she had been clean for a few days. That should not happen for those who want help.

Well my friend, I know from personal experience that drugs destroy lives. Making drugs illegal hasn't saved many of these lives either. Maybe it's time to try something that will work?

Not to mention some gasoline and a match. Cab we expect you to support more flame control.

blood analysis indicated high levels of morphine She was lit in more ways than one.

His regret was no doubt caused by the sudden burst of clarity...'it's not the fall that hurts, it's the sudden stop at the end...'.

This girl had issues beyond her use of heroin and something like this would be just as and probably more likely to have happened if she were an alcoholic.
PS: In case you don't get it yet, those of us who classify ourselves as libertarian conservatives as opposed to plain old everyday conservatives believe that we are perfectly capable of deciding what to or not put in our bodies, and that no one can stop another person who is intent on harming themselves. We also understand that the main effect of trying to ban anything people enjoy is to put it under criminal control, and make it more attractive to the young and others seeking a thrill.
Finally, we think the prisons free up room for those who active cause harm to others, including members of the Clinton administration and other neo-fascist organizations.

No, she injested illegal drugs, which in your world means she got what she deserved, I guess?

Or, where I live: "Hey y'all, watch this!" Or, as they say back in Ohio, "Here, hold my beer for a sec..."

It seems to me that somewhere in all this, Bush is at fault; or at least Colin Powell.

That's the point, this type of human tragedy is totally unrelated to the legalization argument - this lady would have been nuts and behaved erratically (and ultimately suicidally) whether she had to buy her smack covertly, or from Walgreens.
