Today on HARDBALL, Howard Fineman (sp) said speech today was very carefully scripted mostly by Powell and Condaleeza Rice with SOME input from Cheney and Rumsfeld. He called Powell's influence a "slow-motion coup". He did not say GW had any input at all. That all sides were basically appeased and that they had been working on speech for 2 days. I'm really sorry if it is true that Colin Powell is really running this show. He said Cheney was the most "hawkish" of them all. To me, he would have the most respect of ALL!!

This is going to be a disaster. Bush should just let them fight it out. How many more years and deaths will this war claim? Every time the diplomatic busybodies get involved, it just drags the whole problem out longer. What is needed is a clear military victory, were one sides will to fight is broken. George Patton said "kick their ass first, then negotiate with your boot on their neck." that's the way this problem should be handled.

AT LAST !!!!

Now we know who is in charge of the US.

For the first time, we applaud without any reserve the American President's stance. A fair US policy towards all parties involved in the Middle East is definetly the only policy which will bring Peace in that Holy Land.

To: The President of the United States, G.W.Bush

Mr. President,

Let them all know now that we all had enough.

Although the writer is a European so-called "Anti-Semite, Anti-American, anti-, anti, etc etc, who always incited others to reason, hereby, publicly wishes wholeheartedly you succeed on this chosen path of Justice and Peace for the sake of all the innocent populations of the area. Yes, Trouble-makers, blood-thirsty vengeful so-called "leaders" have no place among us in international relations.

In this path you and your Country will surely enjoy historical greatness, provided you persist to hear at all times the wisest advisor of all, JUSTICE AND FAIRNESS. Don't deceive us anymore and we shall stay the closest friends of America as we always were. From us you can expect not only an unpleasant but fair criticism, but also, a true support.

May God help and guide you!

Sorry to say, I find most of the comments on this post a bit infantile.

What we are ACTUALLY seeing the the beginning of the endgame.

The doves are being given their last shot at solving this. GWB is a fair enough leader to realize that he will not have the force of CONSENSUS at his disposal if he does not let the doves at least try one more time to clean up this mess.

If it fails, which i suspect it will, THEN you will hear from the hawks. In the meantime, Powells visit (i am no fan of Powell, but believe he is infinitely better than half-bright was) will allow everyone to cool it a bit. Miracles happen, perhaps it will even work...

THIS IS ALL IN CLEARLY IN ISLRAELS BEST INTEREST...
