Wednesday, April 03, 2002 - LAKEWOOD - Three pranksters shot paintballs at pedestrians walking along the street Monday night until one of the victims fired back with a real gun, striking one of the paintball shooters in the head.

Jeremiah Witherwax, 21, was in the intensive-care unit Tuesday at St. Anthony Central Hospital.

Think of it as evolution in action. Not quite dead yet though.

The liberals will say that the real gun shooter should have just taken his lumps (those paintball pellets can fly at 200 MPH) instead of shooting the little darling.

At least the paintball jackass is 21. So the libs wil have to work extra hard to have him classified as a "child" shot with an evil firearm in America.

The story gets even better. The real gun shooter was "15 or 16". So the idiots in the pickup apparently shot as some gangbangers with a paintball gun.

This story has deterrent value. The shooter definitely belongs in the "Armed Citizen" column.

I'm surprised we don't see this more often. I prosecuted a kid once for shoting a cop with a paint ball gun -- with red paint. It happened as he was walking to his car at night. They officer told me he reached down and felt the sticky wet at the impact site, and could see by the street light it was red. He was in no pain of course, but he kept thinking about how guys who get hurt really bad go into shock and don't feel any pain... Bottom line, the kid was smart enough to keep out of sight for a few moments after he did this, or the officer would have emptied his weapon into him, think he was taking out the guy who had just fatally shot him.

I don't think I can condone shooting someone because they fired paintballs at you. If the shooter claims he thought he was being fired upon with a real gun, that is a different story. I think that is understandable, in the heat of the moment, to make that false determination. But shooting someone just because you don't like getting hit with a paintball is going too far(I think).

Guess he's an adult now. Did they catch the gangsta or did he meld into the background?

But he was doing CHILDISH things. Ergo, he is a child!

Um...........ok.

Now...........given the circumstances as stated, which of your proposed scenarios do YOU think occurred here?? No cheating. Quickly, now.
