Israel has accused Lebanese Hizbollah guerrillas of firing two Katyusha rockets that landed in northern Israel in recent days and threatened fierce retaliation if the Iranian-backed group launches another attack. This couldn't possibly have happened (/sarcasm), because as we know, Israel withdrew from every freaking SQUARE INCH of Lebanon, so Hezbollah has no reason to attack Israel! Israel is no longer "illegally occupying" Lebanon, frustrating the "liberty and freedom" of the Lebanese people. The Jews are out of Lebanon! The Lebanese can do whatever with it that they want!
And yet... what they want to do is kill Jews and destroy Israel. Just like Arafat and his goons, and Hamas, and Islamic Jihad, and al-Aqsa, and Fatah, and Tanzim, and you name it. Let the Europeans and the left in America keep smoking crack and dreaming up "peaceful aspirations" for the "oppressed Palestinian peoples" that will be satiated by a withdrawl to pre-'67 borders and a Palestinian state. A Palestinian state will become even more of an armed camp that it already is; suicide bombers will swarm Jerusalem, missles and mortars will fly across the border, and it will all be excused because Israel won't honor the precious "right of return," or because they won't let Palestinians cross the border to work in Israel, or over water rights, blah blah blah.
The Arabs and Muslims have always hated Jews with a passion, and nothing short of another Diaspora will satisfy them. I say, let them bark at the moon. Israel has a right to beat them into submission, and frankly, that's exactly what she should do.

I'm sure Colin Powell will pop up any minute now to tell Israel to restrain itself and not attack.
The way I was raised, it's not polite to ask someone else to do what you won't do yourself.

I'm a little nervous about the US getting involved in this one. Not only would it become a regional war, but my fear is that it will be the beginning of something bigger, and global.

Well him... I am of the opinion with the exception of icing, donuts are the greatest invention of civilization.

"It keeps getting interesting and I believe we are on the brink of a full scale regional war." Really? what makes you think that? I thought everyone was having a party over there lately.

Which way does the fail out go if they do use the nukes?
They didn't build those nukes because they like having them around, they are built for use. The question is where? How far away is far enough?

ISrael is taking a position of undeniable leadership in the fight against terror in the world because the rest is just too chicken to deal with it or it just colludes with it. Ultimately we will have to follow their lead against Syria, PA, axis of evil or we won't. The seeds of global revolution have been planted long ago by these satans, let us not let them blame us for the situation today.
Note that Jesus specificaly went on the cross so that Jews and Christians' differences (as well as other religions' differences) could be settled at the cross for us once and for all. It would be exciting to see this purpose revealed in a circumstantial reluctant alliance between Israel and Christian America.
One thing is for sure, the bureaucrats that have seeded this discontentment are not ready to pull out. They are too invested and they have invested too many people for this plan. They can't back from it whether it works or it backfires on them.

How far away is far enough?
depends on what kind, how powerful, whether they're detonated on the ground or in the air.... no single answer.

Regional war? I think the news that Farakhan is going over there, that Indonesia is all upset, that OPEC is threatening, that Europe wants America to step aside as the peacemaker, etc., signals a far broader scope of involvement. Eventually it is going to be Muslims against the West.
I don't know but perhaps the time to prepare wasn't for Y2K but rather we should be preparing now. People seem so nonchalant over here, as if it won't affect us.

...is this same as the katusha's?? 'Missile' can mean anything thrown or shot but in the context of rocket-propelled thingys, 'rockets' have no guidance system while 'missiles' do. The Katusha is a 'rocket'.

Then be nervous and fearful, because we ARE involved. Pretending we are not involved now will only make what happens later worse. There is no way for the US to stay out of this.

I'm getting confused now. Are we talking about donuts or tactical nukes?
To: ElisabethInCincy
Israel should respond: First, terms; then tank withdrawals. Too many previous ceasefires have resulted in more deaths, more suicide bombers.

According to George W. Bush, Israel should pay Lebonan to replace those missiles.
