[history]
Oprah Winfrey fired back at the White House yesterday - saying she felt "extremely used" by the Bush administration for implying that she was too busy to tour Afghanistan schools on behalf of President Bush. Winfrey called her pal, "The View" co-host Star Jones, before yesterday's show and told Jones the story "was just not true."

What set Oprah up is her left wing mouth over whelmed her, and she acted like Barbarrraaa or Rosie.
She showed her true colors, as a member of the left wing Axis of Liberal Whining Weasels!
The stealth president wins another stealth battle with half brained whiners like Oprah. She has revealed to the Americans what she really is.

Were Oprah and Star downing cheeseburgers while they discussed this?

Well folks, after all operas are for the most part about whining, crying and all kindsa tragedies. If you want something on the merry, gay side go see an operetta (or would that be 'Oprettah'?)

I must be missing something. (The WH said Oprah said she was too busy to go). "She said, 'So
imagine my surprise, I wake up and read in the newspaper that I'm being cavalier, I'm too busy.' Oprah's been reading too many articles in her self-help magazine about healing the inner you.

Why is it always them against us. Could it be she REALLY had commitments. I think it's admirable that she would honor her commitments rather than have some photo ops. Why do you assume she doesn't like Bush. I think she's positively justified in her feelings here.

I must be missing something. Me too. Here is what I see in the above article:
Bush: Hey Oprah, wanna go to Afghanistan for me?
Oprah: Love too, but I have prior engagements.
Bush, to press: We invited Oprah, but she was too busy.
Oprah, to press: How dare he use me like that? I was too busy to go!
To: Liz
What exactly is she complaining about? I'm confused here. The leak from the white house was that they asked her and she had other committments, she was too busy. She says they called her but she had fund raisers scheduled, and so couldn't go. That seems to be pretty much what the white house said isn't it?
That others took it as a snub on her part? Good grief.

Can't we discuss this without personal slams about weight?

the media could have had a role in creating an inaccurate perception? Nah, the media would never stoop to setting up public quarrels. Never!

Go snarf a gallon of Ben and Jerry's and stop WHINING......
To: Liz
Did she say she's going now?
If not then make like a tree and get the hell out of here.
To: JoeGar
Orca and Star would need more than a few cheeseburgers..
To: Grampa Dave
(Oprah) revealed to Americans what she really is. And Doctor Phil will give her a big hug for it.

You're right; she DID set herself up. I mean, for the President to request a civilian to go on a diplomatic mission is a BIG DEAL, and she rightfully SHOULD have jumped at the chance. It would have been a history-making event, and she turned it down for "fund-raising."
No class, no style, no brains. She's an idiot.
To: wingnuts'nbolts
She set herself up to look stupid and if at
first you don't succeed place the blame fast!ROTFLMCO. Now that's funny.......and true.

Did you read the first article about this,
where her OWN company released a statement saying that she was too busy? That information was from HER company, not the White House.
So how is it that she is so surprised to read about it?
On that other thread, I commented that she had assumed that she was more popular and more important than the President. I wondered if she would learn her lesson.
This talk on "The View" is to backpedal and try to make amends for her mistake, since I bet she got a ton of mail about this. She is compounding her mistake with this. Bet it comes up at the White House briefing, which is scheduled to start in about 20 minutes.
I am betting on the White House, myself.
