Netanyahu was on fox news claiming that what is happening to Israel is equivalent to what happened to the US on 9-11. So they put out the question--
Is what is happening in the middle east the same as 9/11?

Answer:
hell yes it is, and only a moron would say otherwise
To: liberalism=failure
It most absolutely is precisely the same. But there will be many and even some on this forum that will say either it isn't or that the Israelis deserve it. Sick people, both the perp's, their supporters, and their apologists.

Yep, and everyone, even the damn French better realize it, or they'll wake up too late.
To: liberalism=failure
So what is the actual question. In the title it says "the same" and in the body of the message you state "equivalent"
Which is it?

The reason I say this is because the attacks are the same but the impact they are having on the world is not equivalent. Also these senseless acts having been going on for a long time in Israel and America was caught way off guard. The fact that they both target civilians makes it quite the same and the world should be denouncing this and Arafat as terrorism. When will GW step up and announce this.

It serves Bibi to frame it as such (taking the similarities and declaring equivalence). But the motivational differences are tremendous, and IMHO, America should not be hitching our goals to Bibi's. They are not the same, no way, no how.

Is what is happening in the middle east the same as 9/11? Yes. Only on a daily basis.
Poofwell calls it "peace process", of course.

So what is the actual question. In the title it says "the same" and in the body of the message you state "equivalent" Which is it?The fox question used "same". I boiled down Netanyahu's comments to saying that the two are "equivalent"
I happen to think "equivalent" is a better word for it since, the situations are, of course, not identical, but are, IMO equally repugnant. Which was the point of the question.
But now that this little bit of barely significant minutia that should be quite obvious has been dealt with. What is your comment?
To: Cachelot
Yes. Only on a daily basis. Poofwell calls it "peace process", of course.Yes indeed, under this Bush-Powell logic, 9-11 was just Bin Laden's way of trying to start up a "peace process".

Let's hear it for the morons. If you're looking for parallels the Palestinians look a lot like the French Maqui to me. Or any other group which was willing to fight to overcome an illegal military occupation despite having nothing to fight with. The US generally sympathizes with the underdog and would probably be supporting the Palestinians except for two groups: (1) a superorganized and affluent Jewish community which owns the media, which has bought and paid for Congress and whose loyalties are with Israel not the US, and (2) the more rabid branch of evangelical Christians who would like to see the Middle East explode into nuclear war so Christ would return and raise them into rapture while burning the rest of us (especially their allies, the Jews) in Hell.

Is this a poll or an intelligence question or something? What kind of idiots do they have at FOX that they even have to ask such a question?
As for those Muslim rats who wouldn't condemn terrorism because they couldn't define it, maybe they should go back to school and learn something about logic and some foreign language other than Arabic, like English, which can make a clear definition of it.
Targeting civilians and other non-combatants in an effort to achieve your objectives is terrorism - pure and simple. Unlike Dark Age Barbarians, civilized states attempt to restrict their violence to battlefield situations involving soldiers.
The REAL problem with Muslims is not an inability to define terrorism, its the distinction they place between Muslim and non-Muslim lives, and their relative values.

It serves Bibi to frame it as such (taking the similarities and declaring equivalence). It serves the truth. But the motivational differences are tremendous,
They are? What are you smoking? The goal of 9-11 was to kill as many Americans as possible and the goal of the suicide bombers in Israel is to kill as many Israelis as possible. Yeah, I see the difference, not!
and IMHO, America should not be hitching our goals to Bibi's.
Its not about goals, its about what's right. Or like the president did you just forget to factor that into your equation?
They are not the same, no way, no how.
According to you--
America needs to destroy those who want to destroy America
BUT
Israel needs to get along with those who want to destroy Israel.
What shameless hypocrisy
To: Seti 1
Like I said only a MORON would disagree. And your post illustrates that point better than any so far.
I'm surprised you could take yourself away from reading Mein Kampf (the pictures only version for illiterates) long enough to post it.

"...the more rabid branch of evangelical Christians who would like to see the Middle East explode into nuclear war so Christ would return and raise them into rapture while burning the rest of us (especially their allies, the Jews) in Hell."
Um, you're being sarcastic, right?
I mean you just have to be, no rational-thinking human could hold these views - Freeper or not.

The only difference is that everybody hates us Jews. President Bush doesn't want to become a full partner with such a tiny group of people, when compared to the rest of the ME are small fries. I love President Bush and voted for him but let me tell you, his current policy SUCKS! He can not fight Terrorists and then day after day ask Israel to show restraint when they are attacked in ways that only a fool would not lable as terrorism! He is becoming muddled and may have finally given the DemoTaxRats an issue that because of his own actions and words show him as inept. I hope I'm wrong.

The reason I say this is because the attacks are the same but the impact they are having on the world is not equivalentThis is all the more reason I feel sorry for the Israelis and what they are going through.
Imagine if bit by bit 9-11 happened almost every day, and every time it did the world blamed us, and told us we had better not do anything about it. And even our greatest ally who was attacked similarly and was allowed to do something about it was ambivalent at best.
This is how it must be for them.
