I know this has a date of March 30 but it reads like a bad April Fools joke to me.

I will say something that is sad..and not limited to the Methodists X..but true of many mainstream churches...people are scripitually ignorant. Church is a nice place you visit on Sundays. It is a place where you have friendships..but most are still sucking on the milk..They do not generally have doctrinal positions as doctrine has little day to day impact on them......

I should tell you I have a girlfriend that graduated from a Catholic Seminary. She worked as the head of Chaplin services at a Catholic Hospital for years..When her job was elimated she was hired as an associate Pastor at a UM church..She is still an RC..still goes to mass every week end..and then preaches at the UM church.. I know of a Nazarene Holiness pastor that Pastored a UM Church (til it grew to 100..then they pulled him and put in one of theirs)

The UM is a doctrinal mess!

there is a pro-life organization within the Methodist denomination called "Lifewatch" (Lifewatch.org), of which I am a board member. Lifewatch gets no recognition, money, or support from the denomination, but we exist "to win the hearts and minds of United Methodists, and to engage in abortion-prevention through theological, pastoral, and social emphases that support human life."

I admire your commitment.

the Confessing Movement

Do you know if they have any connection to the "Konfessions Leute" (sp?) in Germany? After 35 years, I'm still trying to figure out who they are (where they fit into the body of believers.)

I believe it would be contrary to discipline for her to be preaching in a methodist church and still attending a catholic one. If you think about it, it means she doesn't accept the positions of either church on her list.

There is no connection that I know of unless it is through some kind of inter-denominational "confessing movement."

When I saw the title of this thread, I immediately knew that the chaplain was a Methodist.

please know that not all Methodists share her opinion

I salute you for your advocacy, but I must chastize you for your ignorance of your own church.

Pull out the Methodist Books of Resolutions and Discipline sometime and read them. You'll be shocked at what you see. Officially the Methodist church is one of the most pro-abortion churches in America.

I was a Methodist. Two years ago, I read the Methodist Social Principles and then the Books of Resolutions and Discipline. I never went inside a Methodist church again.

There's a special, high-powered microwave in hell being prepared...
No kidding:
Most women who have a spiritual crisis at Planned Parenthood have "already made the decision to have an abortion but believe God will send them to hell," Corsaro said. "I try to focus on telling them 'God loves you, too.' " In her counseling, she tries to lead the women to make decisions on their own, without badgering them.
Words cannot convey. This woman bears serious responsibility.

Ohhhhhhhh I think (I know) she is very RC..and my guess is she preaches from that doctrinal position. The little Methodist church around the corner from me had a Pastor that had a relationship with a lady in the choir while he was still married..he divorced his wife to marry the other woman and the district gave him a larger church. It is a denomination in BIG trouble X..I believe there are pockets of good churches..but it is a denomination that is apostate IMHO

Mom, she cannot be. The central aspect of RC worship is the eucharist. That can be done ONLY by a MALE. In fact, the priest can ONLY be a male.

She went to seminary with the hope that at some point they would ordain women..She is doctrinally a Catholic.. (liberal:>) She told me she would "never leave the church"

I have no clue how they can allow it but they do

Rn,
Unfortunately, I easily believe you. Liberals in our church only care for themselves and their power. They'd be more than willing to accept another heretic into their midst. I'm surprised she isn't conducting croning ceremonies in honor of the wiccan goddess at the sunday morning women's ss class.

The Rev. Monica Corsaro doesn't look like a stereotypical minister. With her choppy blond hair, thick-rimmed hipster glasses and chunky black shoes, the Methodist minister won't even cop to her actual age ("30-something" is all she'll admit) because, she says, she constantly has to fight for respect.

Yeah, no sh!t.

Lordy... I'd laugh if it weren't so pathetic...

Thank you, S.

RTT, I am keenly aware of the UMC positions on everything--and I disagree with most of them. For years, I prayed that the Lord would take me out of the denomination and lead me to a scriptural church. Without going into detail, I KNOW that I am where He wants me to be.

I attended the 2000 General Conference, as part of Lifewatch and the Good News contingent, and helped get the partial-birth abortion ban passed and added to the Social Principles. I agree with other posters on this thread who have criticized this pastor's involvement with Planned Parenthood. The ONLY reason I stay in the UMC is because I believe it is where God wants me. If and when He directs me elsewhere, I'm outahere!

Then, I will pray that God continues to lead you and give you the strength you need to make a difference.

God bless.
