San Antonio has:

Ft. Sam Houston
Kelly AFB
Lackland AFB
Brooks AFB
Randolph AFB (flight training)

There is also a helicopter facility east of San Antonio. I don't know much about that other than it is there.

During my Air Force active duty, I was stationed at Lackland AFB and Kelly AFB, both for a few months. But I think I have read that Kelly has closed down. Is it still operational?

I took basic at Lackland and when I came back from overseas I was stationed at Kelly for debreifing before I went to MacDill AFB (SAC at the time) in Tampa, FL.

Kelly was AMC (Air Material Command) when I left San Antonio about 7 years ago. It had a TANG unit but did mostly repair on B-52's and other big heavies. The last I heard it was not operational due to all of the base closures of the Clinton years. There was even rumors that they were going to move San Antonio International Airport there from the north side.

Now you know as much as I know. LOL!!

From the link in #59
(Hampton Roads, VA, March 29th, 2002, 7:25 a.m.) INS

Authorities say they're moving in on four Pakistani men who jumped ship earlier this month in Chesapeake, but now more men have been added to the search.

They're searching for those men, and five Mexican men who are also missing from their ship which docked in Norfolk. Authorities have confirmed the men used their passports to buy tickets at the Greyhound bus terminal in Norfolk.

The four Pakistani men, took buses to either New York or Philadelphia. INS officials say if they're found they could be deported. The five Mexican men split up and went to Atlanta and Chicago. The INS says they don't believe any of the men are dangerous.

It doesn't appear the Mexicans were heading home. It's not clear from the article whether the Mexicans arrived on the same ship as the Pakistanis, but I'm pretty sure there are cells in Chicago and Atlanta.

BTW, FWIW, it was reported on our local newscast that one of the four Pakis left a day earlier than the rest.

I agree with you that the doctor is probably part of a cell.
