"Jihad Johnny" Walker Lindh told investigators after his capture in Afghanistan last October that al Qaeda terrorists had plans for a least two additional attacks on the U.S. beyond the Sept. 11 assaults on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
Statements released by prosecutors in Virginia reveal that Lindh told U.S. interrogators he "understood the mission of many who attended the (al Qaeda) camps was to engage in, among other things, suicide operations in the United States and Israel, and to fight on the front lines with the Taliban," reports Saturday's Los Angeles Times.
Lindh admitted he knew of al Qaeda plans for three separate attacks on the U.S. but did nothing to alert America, said the Times, sourcing government lawyers.
The American Taliban also explained that "he didn't understand why [Al Qaeda] bombed the World Trade Center," and "when he heard about the World Trade Center bombing, he was very ashamed due to the high death toll," according to government summaries of his answers.
However, Lindh is said to have told his questioners that he "understood the strategy" behind bombings of American embassies, naval ships and military installations.
Attacks where? When? How?
If you ask me, I don't think he knows a bloody thing, but he wants to feel important, so ...
D
And taking into account that OBL has a reputation of shooting anyone who spoke English, at the least he would be extra-ordinarily suspicious of an American converted Muslim.
If Walker really had the inside dope on the attacks, then he is much higher up in their command structure than he claims.
He's saying things to keep his neck out of a noose, and to get an early release.
Say he slipped on a bar of soap and cracked his skull... multiple times.
Guilty.

Yes, the strategy is perfectly understandable, indeed cannot be missunderstood--if and only if one is waging war on the government of the United States.
Attacking the civil WTC, OTOH, makes sense only if you make no distinction and are waging war on the American nation. Of course, if you do that then even the Democrats understand it. At least dimly . . .
Hmmm. I want to be sure they have indeed gotten all the useful info out of him. I'd recommend sticking a red hot poker up his ying yang to make sure there's nothing else he knows- then hang him.
