I have no doubt that there may be a pilot alive in a secret cell in Baghdad.
An unnamed spokesman says that the preferred method to solve the matter is through legal negoiations.
Would he be referring to the same negoiations that helped to facilitate farcical weapons inspections in the years since the Gulf War? Probably.
The United States needs to treat this issue seriously.
Admittedly it will be difficult to pin Saddam to the wall of the life of a single US pilot lost ten years ago.
If there is a pilot held in captivity by the Iraqi government, it is my hope that the United States deals with the issue forcefully.

It means the leftist internationalists want to pile on the USA over sanctions, as well as shaking down we, the people.

No, just strap in Jesse to a Nuke & drop his sorry no good @ss on Saddam and end 2 problems with 1 Nuke.

While I agree that this is an issue the US needs to take seriously, I'm not too encouraged that there is any truth to this. Why would Iraq wait this long? Seems to me they could have attempted to use this pilot as leverage much sooner now.

Like any good trump card you use it when you need it the most... two things led to this.. one the U.S. announced they had changed his status back to MIA about a year ago right?.. something like that.. anyways Iraq knows they may be on to them holding him capitive so they decide to play it now.. why now? Because their is a looming war.. I don't think one of these two reasons would have been enough.. but with both looming i think they got a good case to play that card.

Or as much as I hate to say it, maybe we are are making the POW case to support the coming Iraq attack. Then Iraq decides to play along and call our bluff by telling the world they really do have one of ours and see if they get any support.
I almost hope that the POW story is not true. I hate to think of a US serviceman held prisoner for a decade while we all partied on. If this turns out to be true, there needs to be a military execution of some American authorities! I would hold Clinton and both Bushes culpable.
